2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 FatPhil (5970) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 3, 2010
330ml bottle (Prisma, Tallinn)
5 light grassy herby aroma, some pulses too, kama, starchy snacks (i.e. cheezy poofs without the cheez)
2 Clear and pale, large head when poured aggressively.
5 Simple light malty and starchy snack retronasals and taste, with some bitter, almost acridly so, hops.
3- Dry papery bitter hop finish. Mellows a bit in the longer finish, becomes greener.
10 Wasn’t expecting this to be good at all - expecting macro swill, to be honest - but was pleasantly surprised. Still not a good beer, but at least it’s a beer with real flavour.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rauschwerk (14) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - AUG 19, 2010
Strong hoppy bitterness. Much carbonation. Very refreshing. One of my preferred pilseners.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 thirstyrabbit (478) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - AUG 19, 2010
Bottle. Pale yellow with a nice frothy head. Light malty aroma. Big hoppy bitterness in the taste. You really have to appreciate bitterness to like this beer.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 jstraw (1098) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2010
Straw color, light white head / Nose of fresh bread and grain / Light body, dry and hoppy, with some malt backbone and good, bitter, finish / Flavors of grain, grass, and a hint of honey / Fine pils.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Foxbush (704) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - AUG 12, 2010
This may have been a bad bottle at the Empress Restaurant in Richmond. The Pilsener poured a clear yellow with almost no head. It had a grassy hops flavor similar to other European beers that are imported. It did have a smooth finish. There was a subtle bitter taste which was positive.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cybercat (1735) - Georgia, USA - AUG 7, 2010
Pours a pretty clear golden yellow with a decent white head. Malty aroma has firm fruity tone that is mainly apple and banana and just a bit sweet. Malty, slightly fruity-sweet flavor is rather pleasing. Smooth, somewhat tingly texture leaves a fruity, subtly sweet finish.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hawthorne00 (1306) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 4, 2010
500ml can. Pale orange, large collapsing white head. Mild aroma of earth and spice with just a hint of grain. Taste has a little grain and pear sweetness and plenty of quite biting peppery bitterness. Austere and in excellent condition. A very good example in a style I find hard to love.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Bif (529) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 1, 2010
Jever pours a pale yellow with a light head. The aroma smells grainy and skunky Taste was not as I expected as it was a bit rough. It followed through with a bitter aftertaste. Not a beer I want to drink everyday. Jever seems to be a typical Northern German beer. Primarily a local/regional pub beer.
