COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

Pours saffron with a short platinum blonde cap. Aroma hints of long travels across the ocean (a metallic skunky aroma that I hereby officially call "Skunktallica"). Nothing special here, just German pilsner that would probably be tastier if it was fresh. The pure & soft water description of the beer makes me laugh. Only drinking half of this as the other half of the tall can is going into the southern style homemade cornbread I’m making for tonight’s dinner.

Good, bitter pilsener. Maybe somewhat poor in aroma, only small malty hints there. Taste is half-full, herbal. Fizzy carbonation. Rocky-frothy head, poor retention.

Shared 500 ml bottle on a balcony in a rented apartment in Prentzlauer Berg, Berlin, Germany. July 26, 2014. Beer enjoyed from a kitchen glass. Golden color with a white head and medium carbonation. Aroma is grassy and citrus with some floral and hoppy tones. A crisp Pils with a fine bitter taste and finish.

Not really sure why it’s rated somewhat decently, this is pretty run of the mill stuff. Being owned by the Oetker Group makes it kind of dubious in my mind. I thought the LCBO gave up on their obsession with Euro lagers a while ago but apparently not. Taste is flat and without much substance, or let alone hops. Just because it isn’t a train wreck doesn’t mean it’s worth a damn.

Gelb-pilsig. Grasig hopfig in der Nase, frisch. Am Gaumen herb, bitterer als vergleichbare Macro-Pilsener aus Deutschland. Leichte Süße vom Malz, gut. Körper recht schmal, erfrischend.

Off white diminishing head. Tiny lacings. Pale crystal clear golden body. Aroma; grass, hops, apple, pale malts, grapes, bread. Taste; hops, grapefruit, light roasted bread, pale malts, pilsener wort, faint berries. Freshness on palate, normal body. Finish with distinct bitterness. Quite good pilsener. Highly refreshing Pilsner with a dominant, but very pleasant, bready bitterness.

@ Havregatan. Bottle (330 ml) from Systembolaget (13:-). Sweet malty and breadish with honey notes, hay/straw, a nice bitterness, light body with a watery texture. The finish is dry and bitter.

Tap, Germany pub, golden pour, no real head, nose is lacking, taste is basic light, nothing special.

Sweet malt, grassy hop. Rich sweet malt, pine hops, touch of mint, clean finish. Fairly simple but a solid classic pils.
