Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

330ml bottle. Clear straw body, small white head with good retention for the style. Aroma is a little skunky, grains, wet cardboard, metallic, grass. Tastes a lot better: grains with a good dose of herbal hops, mineral and metallic notes, hay. Crisp and refreshing.

Light straw in color with a thick foamy head. Aromas skunk, grass and slightly medicinal. Flavors grassy with slight hay. Has a light bitter finish.

DATE TASTED: April 26, 2014... GLASSWARE: Jever pokal... OCCASION: revisiting an old favorite... APPEARANCE: misty, murky golden yellow body; rocky, sporadic white head laces with wispy tentacles; medium effervescence... AROMA: holy Hallertau! metallic iron hammer a la Thor or a nine-iron to the nostrils--subtler hints of fragrant apple and pear with a bit of dough...a stronger, more forceful pilsner... PALATE: medium-bodied, crisp, almost biting mouthfeel--softens at the finish; highly drinkable, with a more lagerish body than expected...TASTE: apple/pear and good ol’ Hallertau; a rather simple formula that also gives off fragrant waves of other fruits... OVERALL: a pleasant variation on the Bavarian theme--a pilsner that is a bit less clean and crisp, but retains enough of its style to cleanse and pucker; refreshing yet substantial...

Polecam!

This is quite possibly my favorite pilsener beer. I’m not a big fan of the style, because I’ve had, well, all other kinds of beers, but this is top notch within its genre. Only other German beer I’m genuinely fond of is Paul Aner. This then is a pils with loads of hops, in as far as it can be and still be a lager, a fine malt and a crisp finish. Not impossible to get your hands on in Scandinavia, but it could have been easier.

Bottle pour. Pale yellow with a pillow white head. Funky grassy aroma. Very light flavor with bread. Finishes with some grassy hops. This was an enjoyable, light beer. Not bad.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2014 Gold pour with a thin head, aroma is sweet grassy hops. Taste is standard German hoppiness with some fresh grass notes over a malty body with a bitter touch towards the finish. Nice pilsener, better than most standard German pilseners

Aroma of malts, hay, grains. Flavour is light malt sweetness with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Average Pilsner.

Flaska från SB delad med MrHult. Klar gul vätska med lite skum. Doftar aluminium burk och stickande malt. Smaken är ganska bra, men den där trista beskan som kommer efteråt är väldigt trist.
