COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

A Mes rate: Bottle from Quinns. Bloody awful. I just don’t like pilsners full stop. Such a shame Ingrid chose this as her last beer with us, but hey each to their own... Thank Eric I had some Earthmonk to wash it down with.

A genuinely bitter German pilsener. Seemed heavily hopped for the style but not to its detriment. From a bottle it raised one of those astonishingly tall heads that I’ve associated with German pilseners since a school exchange trip that my mates and I went on at the age of 15 because the drinking age in West Germany was 16 and we thought we might get served. Drank ’til we puked. Almost 30 years later I still remember the long delays after ordering a beer while the barmaid waited for the head to settle. This particular bottle was slightly skunked, but otherwise clean and grainy. It was faintly sour and not especially fresh-smelling. Pity - would love to try this on draught. Much better in the mouth, where it’s initially all soft malts and diacetyl before a very firm bitter finish. Good bitterness. Nice soft carbonation. Very dry in the swallow. Grassy, clean and rounded with some late herbal astringency. (330ml bottle from Vintage Cellars, Clovelly. BB 5/10/07)

UPDATED: APR 25, 2007 This one has been on my wishlist for a long time, and I’m not really sure why I wanted to try it so badly - It’s not particularly highly rated, and it really isn’t even a style I care that much for. But i found it in Asheville, NC and bought a sixer. When a cracked one open - uh - oh, faint whiff of skunk, mixed with citrus and grain. No skunk in the flavor, thankfully. Clean and crisp, nice corny, grainy bodied with a bracing hop finish. I would drink a ton of this in the summer, if I could get it here.

12oz bottle. Aroma: Grainy malt, cooked corn, some light spicy hops, and a noticeable sulfur note. Appearance: Straw in color and very clear. Big creamy white head had great retention. Some good lacing. Flavor: Lightly sweet grainy maltiness, Some light spice and floral hop flavor. Bitterness came in with a good amount of bite. Crisp and clean finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Wasn’t expecting very much from this beer, but it was very nice. Nice flavors and a great clean finish.

in Can 500 ml., I believe that this beer is within the best ones pilsener of Germany. A very good golden color. The head is something small, but it lasts, white and cremy. Aroma to grass, very deep.... (forests and humid herbs). It has an average body, the flavor is a perfect mixture of Malty/hoppy. A somewhat dry and fresh end. It lets almost feel Malt until the finish, and hoppy bitter and flavorful for the real finish.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2010 Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Clear golden, medium fluffy white head. Intense malt aroma, fresh, earthy grains, and a herbal hop profile. Medium bodied, with a nice carbonation. Wonderful long and deeply bitter finish.
