COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

Skunked bottle. Why do people use green bottles? Anyways light grain and malty flavor with a horrid skunky smell with more cereal and bread aromas behind that. Clear yellow with white fluffy head. I will re-do this one when I get a better bottle.

Skunked, had some hints of being good but as long as this is in green bottles and available inconsistently I will have it at a low rating.

7/1/11. 12oz bottle. Super clear golden pour with a giant white, soapy, fluffy white head that fades but laces quite a bit. Sweet corny and slightly grainy aroma with plenty of skunk. Even sweeter flavor at first again with corn, that finishes rather bitter, tannic, and grainy. Huge meh here.

Very tasty pilsener. Nice malty goodness with light hoppiness. Bit of spice and smooth overall. Great.

Herb-bitterer Antrunk, der fortgeführt wird. Im Mittelteil ist die Bitterkeit bereits gestiegen, später legt sie erneut zu. Etwas getreidig, der Fokus liegt aber eindeutig auf der Bitterkeit. Rundes, lecker bitteres Bier! 8/9/10/10/9/10

Bottle from..that place in Cov on the Earlsdon Rd that used to be Thresher’s. Finally got round to rating the famous Jever, having drank a fair bit of it in Germany it in pre-RB days. Stunning clarity with a lacy ruff decorating the glass with each sip. Rabbit hutch aroma with cut grass, slight celery, minerals. Drinks like a gourmet version of Beck’s; assertively bitter and creamily sweet with a resonating vanilla, honey and pine aftertaste. Retronsal toasted bread, peanut. Sweet pale malt like oatmeal, touch of celery and minerals. Dab of lemongrass, even. I believe the hype about the water; both the flavour and aroma make me think of Yorkshire. Could get pretty wrecked or chop some wood on this. Can easily see why it was once a celebrated pilsener.

50cl bottle.Pours a light golden colour with good steady bubbles and a nice sized head. The nose is of pale malt with perhaps lemon and maybe even lemongrass. The taste is of more pale malt and a big whack of the lemon and herbs at the end. The palate is great - medium bodied, so big for a lager, nice persistent texture in the middle section and one of the most refreshing finishes you will find in any beer. The overall impression is that this is one of the best lagers out there.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. This is a very enjoyable pilsner. Much softer and not quite as bitter as most pilsners. Would happily have as a regular if it weren’t for the price
