3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 clvand0 (350) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - SEP 26, 2003
A friend brought me back a non-widget pint can of this upon his return from his homeland of Germany. It pours a yellow/light golf color with a nice, large white head and it leaves a little lacing on the glass - Very clear body on this one. The aroma is of hay/corn husks, light malts and pleasing hops. Great smelling for a German Pils - no skunkiness here. The flavor is very clean and smooth. It has a nice strong taste upfront that leaves the palate completely bare after a second - very interesting - makes it sooo easy to drink. The upfront taste is filled with soft malts and some slightly spicy hops as well - I detected a nutty taste as well - possibly almonds. Great beer!

Very nice pilsner. I had this at a festivel in Austria. Great clear golden color with a very hoppy flavor. Nice head that lasts after the first sip.

Light golden color. Aroma is herbal, with som grass. This is a quite bitter pilsener, but there is not much more in the flavor.
2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ubiquibeer (140) - Cleveland, USA - AUG 30, 2003
This was one of my favorite pilsners when I lived in Germany. Very dry, almost astringent, with a bitter finish. Quite drinkable in large quantities. Although nothing amazing, I do think this stands up a little ahead of most German Pils.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 dberger624 (1028) - Phila, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 20, 2003
I don't know why I keep buying pilseners. They just don't do anything for me. This was no exception. This was possibly a bad bottle. First thing it's in a green bottle. Besides the skunk smell and taste this tasted and looked just like any other pils. Another drainpour.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - AUG 12, 2003
Very thin with some harsh (but not strong) bitterness. No malt in background and not truly bitter taste. Disappointment.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 mullet (849) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 31, 2003
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2007 Very nice hop aroma; a touch grassy but mostly spicy. Very pale and clear, with relatively high carbonation. Not a great deal of malt flavour and then BANG - bitterness. This is by far the main feature of this beer. The bitterness is great, but the flavour of the beer is not balanced. With more malt presence this beer would rate FAR higher. RR: Jever is jummy. We occasionally get fresh bottles in Melbourne now and this is fantastic when it’s on form. It’s definitely still bitter but it’s not as harsh as my comments above. Beautiful stuff. Textbook German pils really.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - JUL 31, 2003
The beer pours as a very pale golden colour, not unlike the first pee of the day. But this is not fair as the aroma is far superior. I agree that this is a unique beer as it has a prominent spice, citrus and grassy nose which is also present in the flavour. The hop presence is clear but not overpowering and perhaps the only concern may be the sudden dryness on the back palate which cleverly requires you to reach for another. I would like to taste this soft water that is the boast of the brewery.

Clean white head. Pale straw color. Grassy, slightly skunked nose. Medium body. Malt and hops are fairly well balanced. Finish is real dry With a big hop bite.
