Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

Poured from a 330 ml bottle.  It pours a golden yellow colour, and a one finger head that quickly dissolves. Minimal bubbles. Aroma is of malts and hops, not so strong though. Taste is bitter, and leaves back an even more bitter once swallowed. Also, a bit metallic at the tip of the tongue. Medium thickness on the body with an average carbonation.  Overall, a quite nice beer!

On tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Jever is a typical example of a northern German pilsener: Reduced to the max, bitter and dry, and that’s it. Beautiful.

Smaak is behoorlijk bitter hoppig en fris. Standaard goed bier.

0.5l bottle. Golden color with lasting white head. Aroma is malty and herbal. Taste is light to medium bitter with grains. Overall it’s pretty good pilsner.

330ml bottle. Clear golden color with white head. Malty grainy aroma, grassy, hoppy. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Light thin to oily body with average carbonation.

Bottle. Crystal clear pale yellow, medium sized head leaving slight lacings. Dry grassy pilsener aroma, hay, herbal notes, slight malt. Taste is simple but still showcases a nice mix of dry, herby floral bitter hop profile to medium sweet bready malt hint. Slight rustic, semi round mouthfeel, light to medium body, medium carbo, sharp bubbles. A fine pilsener.

Medioker tråkig lager som knappt smakar något. Passade ändå hyffsat i värmen.

Bottle. Light golden with white head. Quite herbal up front, light paper and toast. Taste is light sweet with a long lasting medium bitterness. Light bodied. On paper I should like this, but somehow the herbal bitterness here doesn’t really work for me.

Boring yellow color with irrelevant foam. The smell is malty, but not relevant. The taste is malty, fittingly carbonated, but boring. The aftertaste is okay, but not special either. I expected a tart taste (which is what the publicity promised me), but this isn’t tart at all compared to a moderate west coast pale ale.
