Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

Poured from a 330 ml bottle.  It pours a golden yellow colour, and a one finger head that quickly dissolves. Minimal bubbles. Aroma is of malts and hops, not so strong though. Taste is bitter, and leaves back an even more bitter once swallowed. Also, a bit metallic at the tip of the tongue. Medium thickness on the body with an average carbonation.  Overall, a quite nice beer!

(2) Not worth trying. Although I have been called Jever many times (nothing to do with the beer) I do not find any happiness in this beer what so ever.

Bottle, 50cL. @Poitiers, La Minute Blonde. A golden sparkling beer ; few bubbly ; big white foamy head ; fair retention. Herbal nose (+), hay, light cereal. Light to medium lasting dry bitter ; refreshing. Light body, thin texture, good carbonation, dry herbal bitter lasting finish. Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot : very refreshing, nice herbal aroma, 1-dimensional.

On draught at Schlappen, Freiburg - 5/10/15 - Clean, crisp pilsner. Refreshing and grassy but nothing special. Not a bad beer but definitely lacking the complexity of better pilsners.

Can. Clear pale yellow with a pale head. Aroma is grain, grass, chamomile, hint of mineral. Light bodied, good carbonation, nice level of hops on the palate balancing a light bready character. Taste is bread, grass, chamomile, mineral/lightly herbal hops.

A pale gold coloured beer with a weak white head. A light pale malt aroma, cereal and biscuity. Dry mouthfeel. The taste starts with a dry biscuity and cereal flavour, followed by a mild bitter fruitiness. The finish is short and light and a tad syrupy. Draught @ A&O hotel Hamburg Süd, Hamburg.

Vom Fass und aus der Flasche. Strohgelb mit festem Schaum. Typisch nordisch herber Duft. Kräuterig bitterer Geschmack. Sehr herb auch im Abgang.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear light yellow colour, frothy white head. Aroma is hoppy, grassy, kind of sweet. Taste is almost sweet too, with medium bitterness, fresh hoppiness and some malts, dry. Nice long aftertaste. A great pilsener.
