Bottle in a field in the Czech Republic. Black pour, huge foamy tan head. Aroma of burnt malts, tar, sweaty socks, red fruits, old coffee and chocolate. Flavor is slightly sour, quite bitter and thin. Totally unbalanced and very messy.

Classic IPA with a bit too much of that coffee and chocolate stuff in the back. Drinkable with some hops but quite unbalanced and unusual. Bit above average.

Bottle from trade with mmahut - many thanks, Marek! The beer pours out in a deep black colour with low head and flat body. Aroma of malt, grains and bread. Taste of mild hops, wheat, dark grains, light malt and coffee. Hints of chocolat. Nice beer although more of a Porter than a Black IPA. Malty finish. Not bad.

PET bottle 1000ml
[Courtesy of Cunningham] Pours hazy brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel and butterscotch. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long slightly roasted and butterscotch finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

24.05.2014, 0,5l bottle shared with Cunningham @ hotel room in Oslo: Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is loaded with diacetyl; winegum, butterscotch, burnt caramel, grass, sour coffee, hints of cardboard. Taste is slightly dry and harsh, old hops, cardboard, harsh grass, burnt caramel, butterscotch, sour coffee, winegum, harsh grain, hay. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry harsh mouthfeel. Meh! This one is not even close to being an black IPA...

Pours a hazy, close to black body with a quite large, tan head that laces my plastic cup well. The aroma is strong, cloyingly sweet and completely ruined by some nasty butter notes with additional sweat. The flavour is surprisingly good, the butter is much fainter, although it’s still there. Also sweet fruits, some roasted notes, rubber and citric hints in the moderate bitter finish. Medium body, dry texture. Maybe the Czechs should stick to their pilsners.
[Sample from 1 L plastic bottle with twist-off cap (I’m not kidding!), courtesy of Cunningham, on the bus to Haand řlfestival 2014]

Cunningham (4439) - Halden, NORWAY - MAY 25, 2014
Appearance: Black color with a beige head.
Aroma: A bit too much butterscotch.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and an ok bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Mild grapefruit hoppy, coffee, dark malt and fruity.
Overall impression: Glad the flavor was better than the aroma. Drinkable, but nothing I will recommend. Too much buttercotch.
Personal stats: Large plastic bottle from a trade with mmahut

bottled, thanks to skykob for picking this up at galerie piva in vrsovice. pretty close to black with a lasting medium brown head; aroma of tinned fruit salad and cookie dough; pleasant balance of dark chocolate and stone fruit, clean but perhaps lacking a little in the bitterness department
