Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

From bottle. Sweet macerated apples, light sweet alcohol and acidic vapor. Great aroma reminiscent of Normandy cider. Sweet. Light golden clear with no head. Medium body with medium-light carbonation. Sweet and tangy with great cider flavors. Juicy with light carbonic tang.

Bottled. Poured a healthy shade of medium golden with nothing sticking around for head. The aroma picked up meaty apples along with tart apple skins and peppery, Champagn-ey yeast.. fresh and engaging. The flavor found more crisp, meaty apples at the core, with prickly skins, peppery notes, and light white vinous notes around.. finished with tangy apples and complementary spice.. really tasty! Medium-bodied, crisp, and tangy on the palate with low carbonation.. good feel and flow.. this was great!

I tried this at a beer festival and kept going back for more. I usually do not care for hard ciders or beer flavored by fruits, but I think this is one of the best ciders out there. It pours a beautiful cloudy gold. It is very carbonated and the fresh taste of apples is not overpowering. It is very sweet, so more than one might cause a pounding headache if you cannot tolerate too much sugar.

651mL. Pours a full haze peach juice with no foam. Nose is heavy apple sauce, cinnamon, peach, pear. Taste similar with chunky apple sauce and lactic sourness in the back end. I love this cidery. Excellent sweet ciders.

13 Nov 2012, bottle. light yellow, clear, some floating sediment, occasional bubbles. nose is like fresh pulp apple juice. thin body and moderately fizzy. crisp up front. this really reminds me of unpasteurized apple cider as far as the flavor is concerned. it has the typical mass produced cider flavor with really nice, deeper apple flavors. pretty decent. couldn’t pay $7 a bottle regularly for a cider but this is nice.

Bottle. Pours a murky pale amber with a few bubbles. Aroma has lots of apples, with some sugar and yeast. Taste is very sweet and full of apples. Hides the alcohol completely. Lingering sugared apples. Tasty.

Bottle at home. Slight hazy pale copper orange, no head. Sweet apple juice, touch of sherbet, lightest alcohol fume. Super juicy, sweet apple juice, lightest spritzy fizz, just a touch of balsamic over-alcohol notes on the finish. Pretty good.

Wow! One of the best cider’s I’ve had yet! Aroma was big and bursting with fresh red apples. Pour was a nice light gold with plenty of rising bubbles. Taste was delicious. Big apple flavors with just a hint of must..Light carbonation and deliciously sweet and sticky apple finish. Not enough can be said about this cider!
