COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

22oz bottle, shared by Jay. Mostly clear golden yellow color. No head or lace. Medium body. Lighter carbonation. Lightly syrupy texture. Lightly dry finish. Apple juice flavor, of course, but itís not dominant here. Some big cinnamon, light brown sugar spicy flavor to it overall, which I kind of like, but it also leaves a bit of a lightly spicy bite in the finish. Sweet taste overall, with a light bite, maybe a light hint of the alcohol - a bit more noticeable alcohol than most ciders Iíve had than the same ABV. Interesting cider, though. Even though the spice seems a bit over the top, I much prefer than than a plain-old apple juice flavor.

Sampled at the 2013 Chicago Cider Summit. Pours a clear water with no head whatsoever. Aroma has a nice combination of tart and sweet apple that is slightly dry. Aroma has more sweet apple with a bit of dryness in the finish.

Bottle. Pours a faintly murky amber orange with a thin white head. Gorgeous aromas, lots of fresh pressed cider, sweet and full of juicy apple. A touch of tannic skins. Medium bodied, sweet and full of lightly oxidized apples, the sort that have set out after being diced up for pie and someone forgot to put some lemon juice on them. That sort of fits with this cider as well as Iíd really like some acid to balance it out. Itís quite tasty, but lacking in depth, being primarilly sweet. Long sweet finish with the faintest touch of yeast. Very tasty.

From bottle. Sweet macerated apples, light sweet alcohol and acidic vapor. Great aroma reminiscent of Normandy cider. Sweet. Light golden clear with no head. Medium body with medium-light carbonation. Sweet and tangy with great cider flavors. Juicy with light carbonic tang.

Bottled. Poured a healthy shade of medium golden with nothing sticking around for head. The aroma picked up meaty apples along with tart apple skins and peppery, Champagn-ey yeast.. fresh and engaging. The flavor found more crisp, meaty apples at the core, with prickly skins, peppery notes, and light white vinous notes around.. finished with tangy apples and complementary spice.. really tasty! Medium-bodied, crisp, and tangy on the palate with low carbonation.. good feel and flow.. this was great!

I tried this at a beer festival and kept going back for more. I usually do not care for hard ciders or beer flavored by fruits, but I think this is one of the best ciders out there. It pours a beautiful cloudy gold. It is very carbonated and the fresh taste of apples is not overpowering. It is very sweet, so more than one might cause a pounding headache if you cannot tolerate too much sugar.

Really sweet and totally immersive with the apple flavors. It very crisp with almost a cinnamon flavor. One of the best. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
