COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Orchard Gate Gold is fermented naturally in small artisanal batches from a proprietary blend of organic apples grown here at our Koan Family Orchards in Michigan. We have produced hard ciders here since the 1860s. This is the same traditional recipe that helped save our farm during the great depression. There will be slight variations from batch to batch, just as nature makes no two apples alike! Enjoy our authentic hand bottled American Farmhouse "Scrumpy" Cider with family, friends & food.

This truly amazing cider, the only American cider made from just apples. Every other cider is made from concentrate. Scrumpy’s is made from fermented apples natural yeast fermentation. Great flavor a little on the sweet side but better than overly dry.

Wonderful Cider, The best American cider hands down. Aromas of apples , Amber hue with suspended yeast. Not like the mass produced stuff. will be drinking more of this!

The best cider I’ve ever had. I poured it for a few people that I know are hard core cider-heads, and they were floored. Tastes like fresh harvested apples. No alcohol detected. Quite deceptive. Really great stuff.

Skrumpy has a tart apple smell up front. Then the flavor brings that sweet apple pie, creamy goodness. This cider pours unfiltered and hazy and is very drinkable even with its sugar. A sampled this both hot and cold and loved them both

Bottle at the Caley Sample Room... UK launch of J.K Scrumpy... Hazy red colour, nice fizz on the tongue. Sweet apples with a hint of sour on the long finish. 5* ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2009 Five dollar bottle from New Beer. Maybe six months sitting in my fridge. Had this for the first time a couple years back in a Boston bar when Dupont, again, was on the menu but was unavailable. Served in an Ommegang anniversary glass. Still pours settles out a pale & hazed honey wheat color. Try as I might, there’s some chunks in there. It turns a nice orange hue once it gets all nasty. :D Smell is fresh pressed red, lots of soured skin, barely a sense of wood & vanilla, & just a little plastic. Feel is still, slightly greasy, a touch gritty with chewy tannins & notions of leftover pulp. That wasn’t a piece of yeast I felt, that was a piece of skin. Taste is just so juicy. Crisp sweet reds. I taste pineapple juice in here. Subliminal cinnamon, this cries to be mulled. There is NO alcohol in this. Coating & just barely tart. Just a bit of a yeasty bitter edge dragging on the finish. So full. Almost like it’s bottled concentrate. A nice tide over for when trolling the forums for iced cider. Very satisfying. :)

Very very good cider. I’ve only tried a couple different ciders (mainly Hornsby’s and Woodchuck) and all have paled in comparison to this gem of a product. Great spiced cider taste that you can only get from quality homegrown apples and some cinnamon and maybe clove? spices. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner/operator of Almar Orchards at a beer tasting and was able to express my gratitude for creating such a fine and refreshing cider.

Pours a lovely clear-yellow with minimal white head. Smells of apples, strong, traditional. Tastes sweet and smooth. Fantastic
