COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a malty dark ale with a complex and flavorful roasty character. Ours is more of an American interpretation in that it is a bit bolder than the English style.

Rich dark pour under a thin tan head, light sweet aroma, sticky sweet palate with a very nice rich malt flavor, light warmth in the finish. Will be going back for both the ribs and this porter.

Brown-black body with a medium sized light tan head and soapy lacing. Roast, leather, some dark fruits, and a gentle vinous character. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, a lingering semi-sweet finish. Solid, almost Baltic-like porter.

bubbleflubber (1850) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUL 21, 2014
On tap at the brewery, this pours the deepest of Ruby with mahogany fringes. The thick tan head leaves thick lace all down the glass... a beautiful site. Barnyard and vinous notes to the nose. Dark cherry, roasted malt and finishing with a nice bitter in the mouth. Silky mouthfeel and a round palate are very inviting as an aperitif. Nice example of style.

DiarmaidBHK (3486) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Draft at brewpub. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Some dark roasted notes on the nose. Some malt on the tongue. Feels a bit dryer in the finish than is typical. Solid but jot spectacular.

kramer (5063) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Tap, at brewpub. Pours a slightly cloudy dark brown with a small wispy light brown head. The nose is nice, coffee and light roast with some milk chocolate. The flavor is a bit thin, nice coffee and chocolate though, with minimal bitterness. Good English yeast influence. Light to medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. OK, but it could use a bit more malt in there to beef up the body.
