2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 MrManning (1942) - London, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2004
Now I feel like a member of the club. I prefer this over a lot of the other majors but there’s not a whole lot here. A corny and watery taste accompanied by a corn roast water aroma. Pretty bland and ordinary.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2004
Pale golden colour with a lot more flavour than expected but not necessarily a good thing. Some corny sugary aromas at times. Bit of malty biscuityness as well.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Oakes (9997) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 21, 2004
Another of the five Newfoundland regional beers that the big breweries make. The label and name definitely evoke something your grandfather would drink (my grandfathers drink rum and Sam Adams Lager respectively, but used to drink Ten Penny - another great regional beer - and Charrington Toby).
Copper in colour, Jockey Club has large artificial bubbles and no real head to speak of. The aroma is appley, with fusel and DMS notes, a rather inauspicious start. On the palate, it is only just slightly more bitter than a typical macro. Vague hints of caramel, wood, tobacco and bready malt make it more beer-like than most macros. Fusels ruin the aftertaste. Watery body. Not particularly well-made, but that's part of its charm. It is certainly among the more interesting and characterful macros in Canada.
2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 OKBeer (1168) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 5, 2004
Pale gold colour. White frothy and fizzy head that's mostly diminishing. Virtually no aroma, possibly some grassiness. Light toasty flavour with a faint bitterness in the background, finishing somewhat sweet. Prickly and creamy mouthfeel. Simple and unoffensive.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 gord (36) - harbour grace, Newfoundland, CANADA - JUN 24, 2003
pretty good newfoundland beer.pretty decent taste.but for anyone who happens to visit newfoundland i recommend you try dominion ale, india beer and 1892 tradition ale before you spend your money on jockey club.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 shorlin (377) - St. John’s, Newfoundland, CANADA - JAN 13, 2003
What a major disappointment. Three years ago this was an interesting offering from Labatt. It was reddish in colour and tasted like a decent macro-brewed ale. Now, it is rebottled Labatt Blue with a touch more flavour. Colour is macro-yellow with macro-fizzy carbonation. Drinkably crisp beer with no interesting features.

Uninteresting beer. Crisp taste with smooth drinkability. Minor skunk notes and no hop presence.
