ryan (1706), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 2, 2008 Black body with a small tan head. The nose is chocolate, roast, coffee and light brown sugar. The flavor is lightly sweet with chocolate, molasses and roast. Medium body is round with light carbonation. acrdz (4302), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 9, 2007 Cask pint at the brewery, had along with a plate-full of their 25 cent oysters. Damn that was good. The stout was dark black with mocha colored head. Flavor instantly hits you with liquid smoke and some soy sauce, but in a pretty good way, not offensive. Bitter chocolate and a little hint of bourbon and wood, with a flat, vinuous texture from the cask, it’s actually really good, especially with oysters. Meaty steak marinade and soy sauce, there’s a little hint of that in the back, not overpowering or gross at all, quite good. A different beer, certainly delicious in the right setting.
