acrdz (4376), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 31, 2007 Pint at the brewery. 20-30% opaque, amber-orange colored body with a decently sized off-white head, about 1/2 inch thick and sturdy. Nose of pleasent pine sap and fruity C-note hops, clean, not muddled by yeast like other Johansson’s beer, and even sticky and a little bit dank. Reminds me of SNPA, and in fact I might say this could be a clone of that recipe, since it’s actually common for smaller brewpubs to emulate Sierra Nevada for this style. I’ve tasted it before all over the country. This one tastes fairly close - clean and oily, almost, snappy pine flavored hops and a clean but tasty malt bill, some cedar wood and biscuit malts (light), and again, a noticeable lack of the muddy yeast. I like it.
