ClarkVV (3545), Allston, Massachusetts, USA May 14, 2004 Updated: Sep 20, 2005AOBF 04. Hazy brownish-red, light magenta tinges and some darker browns. Small light tan/cream head. Aroma of soft, even chocolate malt, some fluffy yeast, hints of alcohol and a soft, sweet fruit smell (grapes, cherries, blueberries). Much less aggressive and astringent than the Bizzaro, but also, a bit more thin and less adventurous. Had a muted blueberry/grapes flavor that lingered on the background. Almost no carbonation, lightly alcoholic and sugary on the finish. I think it went too flat, but it had a pretty smooth flavor for a dark strong. vw_steggie (684), Paxton, Massachusetts, USA May 11, 2004 Art of Beer Festival 2004: Has a clouded dark amber/brown color with moderate head and smell is of yeast/alcohol. Taste is also of yeast/spice and finishes with a slight alcohol flavor. Overall this was pretty good, but it wasn’t the freshest. It had been sitting in a glass jar for 5 hours by the time I got to it.
