D_T_B (51), South Philly, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 15, 2006 Thanks Tom! I owe you one.
This beer pours a bright golden brown with some subtle burgundy highlights and an inch of creamy oatmeal looking pale manila head that fell to a thin film leaving some nice lace.
Smells of buttery brown sugar, waffles and chocolate chip cookies with a mild citrus hop.
The buttery notes carry over into the flavor that helps tie an organic woody bread dough into a nice presence of bittering hops that give my tongue an electric sting. I’m getting some grapefruit and lemon zest in the finish here. This is really a delicate and immensely enjoyable flavor, but the bitter finish is a little distracting. I guess I’ll have to take another sip to compensate. Darn.
The mouth feel is decadently creamy with a light dissipating small bubble carbonation that makes this beer a silky smooth delight.
With the gentle flavors of this beer, I could easily drink the hell out of it all night long. Seriously, this is one of the most ultimately drinkable beers I have ever encountered. It’s delicious and magically smooth in the way that only hopped out beers can manage to be.

Volgon (2462), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA May 5, 2003 Updated: Jan 11, 2004NERAX '03: This gets my vote for the best beer at NERAX '03. Clear orange color, huge spicy pine aroma. Starts and ends very bitter. This hops explosion was great. rauchbier (2874), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Aug 26, 2003 Cask, GBBF2003. Amber colour, moderate head and condition. Reminded me of the aroma of 90 Minute IPA, with a good blend of American hops, caramel and fresh grain. Full bodied with the malt flavours dominating the hops in the mouth, but a hop bitter mouthcoating finish reminds you those hops are still in there.
