I had this beer on tap at the Framingham John Harvard’s. It launched me on a summer quest to find a bottled dunkelweizen as good as it. I haven’t been successful, so I am currently brewing my own. This beer had a fantastic malty flavor and went down very smooth. It was a cloudy deep chocolate color with a thin head. I highly recommend it.

July 2005 - Poured dark with no head at all. Smell and taste was outrightly offensive...smelled like and tasted like sweet but sickly cough medicine. I had to force myself to finish it. Awful.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2007 Sampled on draft at the Monroeville PA location this beer poured a murky dark brown color with a small dark tan head. The aroma was sweet, tangy and had a strong banana element. The mouthfeel was moderately thick. The flavor was bitter and sour banana and a bit dry.

Draft. Hazy, apple-cider coloring with light brownish/white head. Inviting yeasty aroma with hints of blueberry or berry-citrus flavoring to come. Scent is strong and distinctive not matched by the surprisingly weak flavoring and body . . . light a diet tea.

On tap at the Springfield, PA location. Listed as "Shot in the Dark Wheat". Poured a medium to deeper brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of cloves, bananas, some wheat and light chocolate. Tastes of cloves, bananas, and chocolate. Thinner body.

On tap at the Springfield PA location under the name "Shot in the Dark Wheat". Pours a cloudy darker golden amber with an average creamy lacing head. Aroma of wheat, banana, clove and a very slight roastiness. Flavors of the same.

Appeared a bit light in color for a dunkel. Strong aroma of banana & clove. Fruity on initial taste. Nice mouth feel. An easily drinkable Dunkel Weiss.

On tap at Framingham, MA. Brown color, great aroma of yeast and some banana, similar flavors and wheat, good use a bit more malt and body. Not bad though, probably my favorite beer from this brewery.
