Had this at John Harvards in Washington DC on 4-24-04. Dark brown to almost black with a foamy tan head. Creamy, roasted malt aroma with some milk chocolate notes. Creamy mouthfeel with more malt and bittersweet chocolate. Finish is some and contains light bitterness towards the end. Good beer!

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2009 (12/27/09, Union Station) Appears to be on nitro. Soft beige head with red-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee, some roast, light molasses. Taste is medium sweet, roast/coffee, light chocolate. Soft (undercarbonated) light-medium body. (5/3/6/2/11)

(4/3/04, DC) Black body with hint of red, topped by creamy tan head. Aroma is not very strong -- roasty coffee and some chocolate, light nutty. Taste is mild sweet, some chocolate, but much stronger coffee. Creamy, light-medium body. 5/4/7/4/14

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2004 Poured black with a dark tan head. It had a sweet roasted aroma of hops and a taste of chocolate, roasted barley, and oatmeal. I was hoping they'd have this on cask, but they got rid of their cask taps recently!

Inveigler (371) - Ferndale, Michigan, USA - APR 4, 2003
Nitrogen dispensed. Has the characteristic dry stout look ... really does one nitrogenated stout appear different from another? Flavor is the dry coffee burnt quality. Some oatmeal smoothness offsets this in the right direction. This could be a fabulous beer if it was Co2 dispensed. Sadly, we'll never know.
