MrRomero (1874), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany May 14, 2005 On tap at the Framingham location: poured red with a thin white head. Light malt and hop aroma. All JH’s beers are served way too cold so aroma is virtually nonexistent. Flavor is lightly malty and hoppy with a bit of tomato flavor. Light chocolate with a short finish. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA May 13, 2005 On draught at Framingham, 5/13/2005. Clear, light, unimpressive auburn colored body, with a yellow head, moderate retention. Light lacing. Aroma is hard to pull from this, mostly crystal malt, certainly little hops and a bit of earthiness. Flavor is mostly dry, crusty brown bread, bits of sweet, hard crystal malt. Dried grass and hay with little hops apparency, as far as flavor, but a bit of bitterness on the end. Carbonation is aggressive, and bites the tongue. Dry, uncomplex beer, which seems to be trying to garner attention due to its red color. Color aside, this is not much of a step up from fresh macro swill (though there are no adjuncts). Medium-light body.
