12oz bottle. Rating #62. Very dark, almost black, but with a small bit of dark red around the outside of the glass. Very small head, almost not even there, just a thin ring. Dark fruit, light roast and a bit boozy, the bourbon is there. Thin body, more light roast and some bourbon, light sweetness, not great, but not horrible either. (1378)

Sweet, but pleasant bourbon flavor. Modest aroma, head and body. Alcohol well hidden.

Bottle from the Binny’s in Orland Park, IL: This pours a nearly black body, mahogany around the edges, with a small tan head that soon reduces to a film. The aroma has dark caramel, Bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, and roasted malts. The flavor is very sweet, stronger than the aroma lead me to expect, and has an added woody bitterness. The finish is sticky sweet with a jab of alcohol at the back of the throat. Not a bad attempt at something, considering this brewery’s track record.

Bottled. Poured deeper burnt sienna with a short-lived off-white head. The aroma picked up warm caramel and blended chocolates joined by a large dose of vanilla.. some toasted oak if you really dig deep.. too sweet to notice any alcohol. The flavor found sweet, sticky, syrupy bourbon and vanilla along with moderately-roasted chocolates at the core.. interesting coconut accent that really picks up steam through the finish.. overloaded with sugars, which really made it hard to drink. Medium-bodied and very sweet on the palate as mentioned.. not bad stuff, but heavy-handed with the sweetness.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 mtjoseph (243) - Murderapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 16, 2010
120z bottle courtesy of my landlord. Pours a thin black with a small tan head. Notes on the nose of sweet malt, vanilla, bourbon, and ash. An oily, resinous body, with a heavy bourbon presence that paves way for a super sweet malt base with minimal notes of everything mentioned above. A half assed rate for a half assed beer.

Pours dark brown with a small white head. Bourbon and vanilla aroma. Sweet toffee, milk chocolate, some strange off flavor that i can’t describe, and a bunch of alcohol burn. Thin on the palate and overall pretty forgettable.

Pours dark brown. Medium body. Quickly dissipating head. Not much aroma for my weak nose today. Mostly malty with only subtle hop character. Toffee notes. A whisper of bourbon. Nice vanilla texture.

Bottle from the Pizza Port Brewing bottle shop in Carlsbad, CA. Pours very dark cola with a few tan bubbles. Odors of vanilla and maybe bourbon as well. Medium plus body with creamish carbonation. Flavor is vanilla, chocolate, bourbon and sweet burnt malt. Tell me it’s from Scotland and I might believe it. It does seem a hint smokey. Finishes mildly sweet with some fair flavor complexity. Then it turns astringent? Might be the best beer from this brewer.
2.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 24, 2010
Aack. Whoa, totally unexpected! With an aggresive pour got a smallish tan head that quickly subsides. Color is an opaque very dark brown. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate malt. Flavor is massively cherry. And then a few other components - vanilla and.... man, I just cant get away from the cherry. Body is ok and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor. Could cook with it. Or give it to someone who likes dark cherry beer. But it’s definitely not for moi.
