COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
John Henry Three Lick Spiker Ale is an imperial stout brew style that has been bourbon oak aged. This beer is brewed with three different dark roasted malts creating chocolate flavors and a dark appearance. Oats are also added for additional body and flavor. Combined with the pale and caramel malts, there are over 12,000 lbs. of barley in the brew. Cascade, Willamette, and Alsace Hops are the three hops added for a hoppy tasty and full aroma. After fermentation has been completed with our top fermenting ale yeast, conditioning starts and the fun begins. We condition our brew with bourbon oak and let the extended aging process take over. Hints of bourbon and vanilla from the oak come through in the aroma and flavor. This is a big beer that you can not pass up.

Gift from S.J.. Caramel, oak, vanilla = winning combination. The finish was bourbon, and dark chocolate and earth. Strong Ales are becoming one of my favorite styles. Thanks SJ.

Black pour from bottle at midway airport. Tan head. Oily and sweet aroma. Sweet and white chocolate taste to it. Pretty good. Unusual. Hides the ABV well

Excelente breja! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Firestone restaurant pint glass From: Cherokee Market Beer & Wine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $9.99 for a 4-pack Purchased: May 11, 2013 Consumed:May 11, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured an almost pitch black color with two fingers of pillowy tan head. Not as much lacing as I’d thought there would be, average with sporadic spots. Very nice retention of tan foam all the way down. Smelled chocolate, toffee, caramel, oak, chocolate milk, faint coffee and bourbon. Very malty. Tasted similar to the nose, just so smooth. Got toffee, caramel, tobacco, oak, chocolate, bourbon, chocolate milk, vanilla and faint coffee beans. Touch of bitterness, but smooth. Medium-to-full body. Slick texture. Average carbonation. Long, warming, smooth finish with just a tad bit of bitterness. A very good beer and I think a great price at $2.50 a bottle. Would love to try it again.

Very nice looking beer. Dark pour with slight tan head. Slight bourbon smell with chocolate too. Very gentle bourbon taste for a decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour into tulip. Deep brown with tiny tan head. Aroma is dominated by sweet chocolate malt, very pleasant. Flavor is a bit hollow, a bit of chocolate malt and not a hell of a lot else. Surprisingly thin body, medium carb. Better than I expected.

sweet tar like molases aroma, wet grass as well. Thick very dark brown color with beige head. No opacity. Looks thicker than mouthfeel which is medium and fools you when you . Refreshingly light. Entry is light, as is the get, the medium portion is where the flavor is. Toffee, chocolate, dark cherry, slight smoke flavors. Don’t notice much hops at all, but not too sweet. Smooth and again very middle flavored. Alcohol burn is not noticeable for a 9.1 abv, they hide it well.

I really can’t understand the ratings on this, except if I didn’t get a big enough pour (in a brandy snifter). This was rather disgusting, actually. There’s no way I would consider it an imperial stout, as it is rather light bodied for it. The wood is barely there, and the finish is both thin and vegetal, with ugly acidity and sourness. No thank you! Bottle.

Flaska.
