22nd February 2008. Strong bitter/ale smell belying it’s pale ale status. Fairly crisp - malt dominates the slight hoppyness. Lingering dry slightly bitter malt finish. Brings back those misty water colour memories of drinking sub standard ale in the 1970s!!

330ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam)
Mid red, small head. Fruity hops and honey aroma, quite pleasant. Touch of glue briefly, and a hint of alcohol later. Rich malty body, a touch sticky, but that makes it fuller. Sweet dark fruits too, nice burnt edge. Nice little bite of hops too. Wasn’t expecting much from what’s in theory a a simple beer, but this was as good as many dubbels for its maltiness. Don’t drink cold, certainly better at 15C-ish.
