Production moved to Burtonwood, Summer 2007. Subsequently moved to Camerons. Heineken announced that production of cask Magnet would be discontinued in January 2010.

It appears that a keg version of Magnet, also brewed at Camerons, may still be in production. The keg version has a separate listing.

If you’re lucky enough to find one of the selected outlets that sell it then why not try a John Smith’s Magnet.
It has a subtle balance of bitter-sweet flavours; caramel and a hint of liquorice... look why don’t you just try it for yourselves. Easy-drinking, full-flavoured and full-bodied (4% ABV).

First tasted this in the Woodsman, Burneston in June 1986. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thick creamy white head. Strong metallic taint in the short aroma. Creamy smooth mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt base gives digestive biscuit base with tart fruit notes of woody redcurrant. Aggresive bitter hop resins and hard water salts add to the astringency building up in the aftertaste. Finish is harsh and metallic with a touch of malt. Would avoid this one.

Cask @ The Halequin, Sheffield.
Pours deep caramel amber with a nice, medium, creamy, white head. Sweet caramel aroma, light berries and a touch of roasted malts. Low carbonation, perhaps just a wee bit hin. Sweet flavour, lots of toasted caramel and soft roasted malts. Low flowery bitterness in the finish. Reminds me of a Kilkenny a bit.
