2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Keg at the Masonic Arms, Kirkcudbright. Insipid tawny brown with a creamy head. Light malt aroma. Caramel, metal, malt and honey on the bittersweet but confused taste. Unprovoked weirdness on the bitter aftertaste. Not for me...

Mørk orangebrun klar med fingerhøyt kremete offwhite skum som ligger. Lukter lett karamell, malt og noe metall. Svært lett. Bart et lite hint av sødme. Uten kullsyre.

Clear copper in color. Watery mouth feel. Light toasty flavor. Cant really detect an aroma. Overall, a very mild tasting beer. Thanks to BarZigKin for sharing!

Clear mahoganny brown with a very firm silky white head. Malty nutty nose and palate with a nice bitterness. A very nice and typical bitter.

The john smiths is a good British beer for people first getting in to beer tasting. The overall appearance is basic a dark brown haze. The taste has a slightly nutty feeling but nothing more to it. No hoppyness what so ever.

Pint on tap as Extra Cold. Takes ages to settle. Slight malt nose, hazy brown beer with solid white head. Tastes like still cold water. Aftertaste is slight malt sweetness. And that’s it.........

Smooth Flow can. Nutty brown with a thick, creamy white head. Malty, slightly sour and a bit watery. Would never be my first choice but ok in a pinch

UPDATED: APR 3, 2015 Can. Dark, clear beer with foamy white head and low carbonation. Nose is thin, nutty and soapy. Limited taste of nuts, biscuit, ginger, light non-descript hoppiness and mild bitter medium-length finish with clawing metallic aftertaste. Reasonably smooth palate. Not an enjoyable experience

Mar 2015 - Sample from keg at The Railway Putney. I didn’t want to order one of these just for the tick, as I’ve never been a fan. In the past I’ve ordered a pint of this, left 500ml and ordered something else. Yes, it’s thin, malty, watery yet astringent and drying. As poor as I remember. Dry and unappetising. Not suited to keg, but then I doubt it would be good via any dispense. Strangely wide and enduring availability. If this was the only beer in the pub, I’d order a coke.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2015 Keg at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a creamy white head. Slight aroma of caramel, leather and fruit. Taste of caramel, biscuit plus some fruit, yeast and nuttiness. Creamy texture and soft carbonation. Fruit bitterness in the finish. It’s bland, boring and weak, but still drinkable. Not unpleasant and ok if nothing better is on.
