Can at Birmingham airport lounge while waiting for my delayed flight to Amsterdam! Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is stale malt with some hoppy notes. The flavour is medium bitter with a watery metallic palate. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. I used to like this beer many years back but now itís just a fizzy bitter.

30th Nov 13 sees me at a íLeaving Partyí in a local social club: I volunteered to do the food. So there I was dressed as Elvis cooking Pizzaís in a hot kitchen for 100 other guests and my only avenue of coolness was to drink pint after pint of this nitro-keg brew. Too be fair it did the trick, I stayed sober and it quenched my thirst. Pours a good looking: deep old gold/reddy amber body with a full foaming crown. Not a lot of smell, it comes too cold for any aromas to live. Once it begins to warm a little you can smell a mild maltiness. The taste is a smooth semi-sweet malt like flavour with a mini hop bitterness underneath. Itís OK and I can see why itís so popular with some.

I don,t know why i,m wasting my time writing about this atrocious beer. Lowering it,s temperature is a good idea, down to absolute zero would be my advice. At least we know that 15% of the population have neither a brain nor functioning taste buds. You could spend the rest of your life trying to find a worse beer.

John Smithís Extra Smooth has a cascading head, which eventually builds to a creamy, beige bar at the top, with a clear, copper appearance and heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, creamy, tea, with bread, hops, and barley notes. Taste is of barley malt, bread, bread crust, sugar, caramel, nougat, iced tea, good hop bitterness, and even buttery flavor. Mouthfeel is full, but not heavy, and John Smithís Extra Smooth finishes dry, refreshing, extra smooth, and delicious. Overall, this is really wonderful. RJT

Deep copper colour, thick off-white head. Mild, generic mass-produced bitter with very generic flavours. Not good.

Pours clear ruby, finger white nitro head. Smell mild creamy bread. Taste light fluffy sweet malt. Light bodied. Ok

Sampled both the Original Bitter and Extra Smooth. The nitrogen widget helped create a little character, but this beer is largely forgettable. Not much going on here, but it is easy drinking.

Draft @ boat to England. Aroma is some spicy herbal hops, faint biscuit malt. Flavour is mild bitterness, some caramel, rather watery. Okay.

Smooth is right. So low alcohol, can't taste the beer in here. Creamy, yet goes down easy. A real thirst quencher ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nitro tallboy. Clear dark gold with fluffy white head. Aroma is malt, bread and something metal. Yikes, metal prominent in the taste as well. Body is light, but creamy. I donít love the flavor, but see how you could drink a bunch of these if you really wanted to.
