Slightly metallic smell. Quite mild. Good thick head. Fairly generic but very mild and drinkable. No aftertaste.

Is this the worst beer in the world, certainly must be a strong contender. No taste, no character would rather drink a soft drink.

Not my thing. Very watery. Almost no taste. Some ESB hints there. Expected a bit more.

Can from Wegmans. Pours nitro mess that becomes a clear gold with a medium sized white head. The aroma is grainy but really undefined. The taste is sweet grain, maybe some corn? Hard to say.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can at Birmingham airport lounge while waiting for my delayed flight to Amsterdam! Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is stale malt with some hoppy notes. The flavour is medium bitter with a watery metallic palate. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. I used to like this beer many years back but now it’s just a fizzy bitter.

30th Nov 13 sees me at a ’Leaving Party’ in a local social club: I volunteered to do the food. So there I was dressed as Elvis cooking Pizza’s in a hot kitchen for 100 other guests and my only avenue of coolness was to drink pint after pint of this nitro-keg brew.
Too be fair it did the trick, I stayed sober and it quenched my thirst.
Pours a good looking: deep old gold/reddy amber body with a full foaming crown.
Not a lot of smell, it comes too cold for any aromas to live. Once it begins to warm a little you can smell a mild maltiness.
The taste is a smooth semi-sweet malt like flavour with a mini hop bitterness underneath.
It’s OK and I can see why it’s so popular with some.

I don,t know why i,m wasting my time writing about this atrocious beer. Lowering it,s temperature is a good idea, down to absolute zero would be my advice. At least we know that 15% of the population have neither a brain nor functioning taste buds. You could spend the rest of your life trying to find a worse beer.

John Smith’s Extra Smooth has a cascading head, which eventually builds to a creamy, beige bar at the top, with a clear, copper appearance and heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, creamy, tea, with bread, hops, and barley notes. Taste is of barley malt, bread, bread crust, sugar, caramel, nougat, iced tea, good hop bitterness, and even buttery flavor. Mouthfeel is full, but not heavy, and John Smith’s Extra Smooth finishes dry, refreshing, extra smooth, and delicious. Overall, this is really wonderful. RJT
