JdoubleyouS (82), Erie, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2005 Fruity aroma, pours golden clear not bad head. Not too nice on the tongue and the finish just didnt impress me. Nate (2166), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 24, 2005 Has a mild fruity-hoppy aroma, mild sweet malts. Some caramel, orange peel, and brewed tea. Golden amber clear with thin off-white head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Start with mild acidity, soft malts, and a light saltiness with good hop bitterness. Finish is solid bitterness with mild graininess. A tad watery and could use a bit more malt character, but a decent pale ale. euserphriendly (150), Youngwood, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 5, 2005 A strong citrus/Grapefruit flavor. This beer is too light on the hops for the style. However, it is probably the best the JBC has to offer. FROTHINGSLOSH (1440), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 11, 2004 Updated: Aug 12, 2007My first trip to the JBC. I see that a pale ale is on the menu. Good. I like pale ales. The draft comes a neutral brown color. Ok. I can see that. There is a faint grapefruity hop aroma. Good. At least I know they used decent hops. Obviously by the aroma alone they have skimped on them, but at least they are there. What grapefruit there is burst quickly upon the tongue but is almost instantly lost as one realizes that this is an exceptionally watery brew. I think that I could take a Sierra Nevada and cut it half with water and come out with a beer this consistency. Thank god there is some malt that slowly comes in on the aftertaste to try to balance the hops and add some body to the beer. In all the flavor was really not too bad, but the thinness is so overwhelming it is hard to think of anything else when sending this on it’s merry way to the gullet. Still, this beer I think has the best potential to become good as the brewmasters tweak their processes a little. Drew (2374), Kent, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2004 Lots of citrus in this one - lemon, melons, grapefruit - juicy. Flavor was pretty well balanced, but thin. Could use an extra dose of evertything - there just wasn’t enough flavor to go around.
