When introspection fails, it’s time to look outward for inspiration, perhaps Northward! One of the people who inspired me this past year is my friend Gabe Fletcher, of Anchorage Brewing Co. We brewed this beer together. I hope it inspires you. Northward!

Had on tap at the brewery. Pours a refreshing looking dull orange with an agressive foamy head. Had quite a tart funk smell. A very unique taste. Very peppery. Leaves a hop tingle on the tongue. Paired well with my truffle fries and mussels. Good stuff as usual from this local brewery.

A really nice saison that I wish more breweries would emulate for the season. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at B spot, Auburn Hills. Pours light lemon hazy color white head. Aroma is sour funk, lemon, hay, some Belgian esters, sort of a white wine oak quality. Flavor is sour funk, not too acidic, Belgian golden ale notes. Sort of a blonde ale with sour notes feel. Aroma is great, but flavor is a bit more bland than I’d like. Still quite good.

On tap at Hazel. Bold gold body with medium head. Nose is citrus, faint, floral. Delicate. Taste starts subdued, gentle and then kicks heavy into the lemompeel. Really good stuff.
