Commercial Description:
This delicious farmhouse ale is named for our Jack Russell, who struck by a car, bounced back in fine tenacious Jack Russell fashion, and is brewed for those of us who knocked down, have picked up, dusted off and carried on undaunted. Golden, naturally cloudy, bottle conditioned and dry hopped for a perfectly refreshing balance of spicy malts, hops and yeast. Please enjoy our beers in good health, And look both ways when crossing the street!

Hazy yellowish orange color with an enormous rocky off-white head that slowly slowly settles down. Lots of chunky lacings. The smell is really good. Refreshing fruit aromas, floral notes and a mild funkiness reside on a delicate biscuity malty backbone. Hints of spices and medicinal phenols. The taste is surprisingly clean with notes of lemon-peel and melon up front. The fruits quickly step aside and make way for spices, faint malts and grassy and earthy hop notes. A very mild funkiness and a semi-tart note is overpowered by a moderate sweetness. The finish is surprisingly short, mildly tart and bitter with notes of medicinals, spices, minerals and brett flavors. Medium body, crisp and refreshing with a rather aggressive carbonation. The finish is really dry. I like this one, and in general I find Jolly Pumpkin’s brett character quite pleasing. Perhaps Bam Bière can’t compete with the best Belgian representatives of the style, but it’s quite close. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

Courtesy of Bov. Pale golden with a white head. Fantastic aroma. Hints of lemon peel, candy and sage in both nose and taste. Mindblowingly pleasant. Thanks a lot Bov!

from crackedkettle.com - hazy blond colour with a long lasting white foam; well pronounced sourish and flowery nose, some cream and vinegar; moderate malt body and carbonation; gentle sourish fruity and flowery finish - subtle

750 ml. bottle. Batch 251, 252. Pours a thick white head, with lots of lacing, over a cloudy, pale yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is citrus, apple vinegar, Belgian barnyard funk, ginger, cedar....taste is combination of citrus, apple, tiny bit of sweet, finishing with a lingering bitterness...mouth feel is light, carbonation high. Over all this is very reminiscent of scrumpy.

750 mL bottle. Straw golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of barnyard, cedar and yeast. Great full bodied taste of yeast, faint but sharp hops and some faint citrus. Nice funky finish.

On Tap at Jolly Pumpkin, Ann Arbor. The beer appeared flat, with no head. It was a maize yellow golden color, and a strong yeast aroma. The taste was nice, complex, and fruit peels. It was a great tasting beer, tart, and biting, but complex and changing throughout

I poured this one into my snifter and the head was amazing. It was probably three inches high and fluffy white. The beer itself was a bright golden yellow and cloudy. The smell reminded me of ketchup but in a good way. The taste was tomatoes! The flavor was really complex. update 08/28/09 12oz bottle which must be a couple years old. Smells like a fantastic wild ale, subdued barnyard and lemon, excellent. The score remains the same however because this is awesome. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-25-2007 15:26:11

Bomber from redlight redlight. Very good saison. Pours a cloudy pale yellow/orange. The nose is full of wild yeast and the tart aromas of unripe berries. Earthy but floral. The flavor is mild and crisp, slightly tart, just a tad sweet, a delightful, classic saison.
