Furseth (1328), Kungälv, Sweden Mar 8, 2009 Bottle at 3 - smår um Gothenborg: Hazy yellow colour, with almost no head. Aroma of citrus, flowers, yeasty, sournes.Typical belgian inspired. flavor is smouth mouth feeling, thin body, short to medium fruity, citric finish. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 6, 2009 batch 273/274.
Pours cloudy golden with thick white head.
Aroma is once again laoded with JP funk and sourness that transpires over everything else. Nose is rather fresh and fruity of green apples.
Taste, funk, fruity, light apple/pear tartness.
Signature JP mouthfeel with light vinegary palate. Not my favorite, but easy to drink.
Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Mar 2, 2009 Pours with a nice haze, the color of a ripe carambola, a pale peach with soapsuds head. Very aromatic and peculiar pedio-forward aroma. Some peach and plum skins, funky but not tart-smelling, some earth and exotic but mild spices and some wood character. High carbonation is a bit much, detracts. Very nice flavors, including solid clean cereal grains that add depth and texture, finishes very dry but not bitter or tart. Is woody and cheesy in nature too. Falls short for me because of the pedio and the fizziness but still fun. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Mar 2, 2009 Opaque golden with low, rocky head. Looks gorgeous. The aroma is very dusty with no shortage of pedio. There’s also appley esters and some slightly doughy malts. The malty body has subtle fruitiness and a pleasant yeasty character. The carbonation is just sharp enough to cut through the malts. The finish is dry but refreshing, if a shade too gassy. nefarious (202), Clarkston, Michigan, USA Feb 26, 2009 Huge fluffy white head.........light cloudy yellow color. Big funky aroma.......dirt, straw, floral and citrus. The flavor is much of the same. almost a touch of vinager. This is my second go around with a this style........not my favorite but well done none the less. tsetlock (66), Livonia, Michigan, USA Feb 25, 2009 This poured hazy and light golden in color with a white head that faded gradually. The aromas were of lemon rind, grapefruit, pine and some spice. In the mouth it is light-bodied with lots of carbonation and tartness. The finish turns dry and maintains the bitter tartness from the front of the palate. SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Feb 19, 2009 bottle - poured hazy straw color with massive foaming head. It’s like a rabid dog!!!
Aroma - ripe green apples, lemon, wheat and yeast.
Flavor - very little taste, some yeast and mild wheat flavor with alittle spice,
Palate - light mouthfeel with above average carbonation. Finish is lemony with no aftertaste.
Overall - This beer is like drinking a kiddie cocktail. Too expensive for lack of flavor!!!! gbdub (73), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Feb 18, 2009 On tap at Blue Tractor. Cloudy amber-orange with a minimal white, sticky head. Yeasty, fruity, sour aroma. Taste has similar notes, a little sweet and sticky at first but finishing nicely dry and hoppy. Plenty of fruity tartness and a little of the trademark "funk", though this is not as pronounced as in some other JP brews. Quite nice.
