blipp (1630), Newark, New Jersey, USA May 4, 2008 Amber with white head. Spicy aroma with notes of cinnamon and clove. Also notes of pumpkin, apricot and sourness. Medium body. Flavor is more sour than the aroma with a light spicyness and light fruit. Nice. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA May 2, 2008 Bottled, poured into a tulip. JPBB pours tangerine orane with a medium head. It smells like a wet dog with a hint of peach. I found barnyard grass, grapefurit and champagne in the taste. This highly carbonated beer is fruity, dry and has a quick finish. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA May 2, 2008 On cask at Redlight. Pours a light orange amber with a thick tan head. Apple sour dry aroma. Taste is dry tart, apple and slightly sour. Very light and refreshing. Finishes very clean with a sour bitterness. I am not really a sour fan, but this is really tasty. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle, 12 oz. First of all, this beer has the most head of any beer I’ve ever tasted, seen, whatever. If, like some of the raters below, you don’t get a head, you have the wrong beer, a bad beer, or you have the most gentlest pouring motion ever witnessed on our planet. The lacing is so thick, it’s more like horizontal head growing from the side of the glass, a freaking wide-mouthed trappist glass! My lord. No head??? What??? What are people rating here??? Ok, anyway. Aroma of grass, light hops, funk, sourness, earthiness, meadowness, lusciousness. Flavor expands on these notes with complex earthy/sour/grainy notes. A nice balance between sweet and dry. Fantastic brew, and terribly underrated at 3.67. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Apr 27, 2008 Updated: Apr 28, 2008Finally tried this one. From a bottle at Raleigh WBF. I loved this beer. Funky, earthy, spicy, sour with hints of summer fruits and some floral notes. Nice wild yeast, good oak, but not over the top at all. A unique saison, for sure. Can’t wait to pick this up at Sam’s soon. Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Apr 25, 2008 Unfiltered honey colored body with a big white soapy active head. Aroma of citrus fruit, spice, and yeast. It is a wonderfully colorful aroma being complex and layered. Flavor is more tart than the aroma would indicate. It is honey, grapefruit, pineapple, pepper. Mildly bitter. Carbonation is very active in the mouth. I do like the lower ABV. henrikb (1298), Aarhus, Denmark Apr 23, 2008 Beautiful clear dark golden body huge beautiful white head, some sparkle; Amazing nose laid back, fresh and happy, lots and lots of of amazing aromas ripe mandarin, bergamot, tons of flowers and ripe pomelo; The body is a little thin for the quite big amount of hoppy bitterness, watery textured (in a good way), bitter, with only a very little acidity, huge soft big bubbled carbonation; Long finish where the bitterness takes a little to much control and together with the yeast makes it a little to dry, lots of spicy dry hop and grapefruit peel aromas. Arayaga2 (932), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 21, 2008 Hazy orange with big white head and nice lacing and a bit of chunky sediment.Aroma is pineappley with a slight milk protein hint. Flavor is light with pineapple again, and other citrus, with a biscuity underbelly. Soft carbonation. Get more sour as it warms. $2.50/12oz
