Bottle from 2011. Pours an average whitehead that mostly diminishes. Body is sparkling clear light yellow.
Aroma contains moderate malts (light bread, cookie, straw, caramel), light hops (flowers, grass, spruce, orange and lemon), light yeasts (horse blanket) and apple, cherry and melon.
Flavor is acidic, then acidic and light sweet and finally acidic, light sweet and light bitter.
Body is light to medium with watery texture and soft carbonation.
Refreshing and good for a warm summer day but a bit simple.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.75l bottle shared with the tasting crew. This is a cloudy glowing yellow one with a small lacing white head. The aroma has that typical Jolly-aroma. Mild sour-ish and really refreshing! Lemons and apples perhaps, with some yeast and something reminding of wheat. It has a soft oily to watery texture in the mouth and itís average carbonated. Flavors also have Jolly all over it. Lemons with bitter waxy lemon zest, something spicy - almost herbal, and also some orange zest. Quite a zesty-bitter one this. I found it tasty and refreshing. 16.06.2012

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Light yeast notes and plenty of carbonation in this one. It didnít have a ton of complexity on the palate or the signature JP funk I was expecting, but this is the first time Iíve had one on draft. The flavor had light fruit and spice and the finish was dry and quite bitter. A refreshing beer I will certainly try again.

Bottle from 2012 in a tulip. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, tartness, pale malts, some light fruits, and some floral hops. Flavor the same with a nice blend of it all. Average texture. A pretty good saison.

Straw coloured and fizzy. There isnít quite enough about it to make it particularly memorable, but itís OK.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Looking to make up for my poor Thanksgiving selection.
Very lively bottle. Bubbling out of the top of the bottle after it was popped. Pours with lots of carbonation, thick head. Very hazy golden color resulting in a nearly opaque caramel color appearance. Some lacing, sticky bubbles on the side of the glass.
Dominant sour funk smell initially, giving way to a fruitier sour apple aroma. Spicy and musty yeast with notes of a clean wood smell, oak or birch. Sour and funk fade a bit at room temperature, green apples, apple butter.
Sour apple flavor leads with a musty and funky finish. Some drying and bittering hops on the finish as well, in combinations the hops and funk hit the entire back of the tongue. Faint spicy yeast. Finishes extremely dry, very refreshing. Tough to get much deeper I to the flavors because of the high carbonation. No alcohol at all, which is obviously not surprising at 4.5%.
Mouthfeel is over carbonated, fizzing on the tongue feeling. Makes it difficult to taste the middle of the beer. Very light.
JP does funk right. This would be a good wild ale introduction, almost like a funky Éphémère. Overcarbonation/mouthfeel and low ABV seem to rob this of some depth. Very drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Pours hazy yellow with a foamy frothy white head and lots of lacing. Tastes smooth, like dough, lemony citrus, , light malt, light dry spice, yeast. Low/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like dough, hay, nutty, earthy, and hints of sweet flowers.

3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 mos old 750ml. Fluffy white head bib bubbles. Hazy gold. Smells like a farmhouse should - barnyard with yeast, citrus fruit on the nose. Highly effervescent (light bodied) which I've been seeing a lot from jolly lately. Super drinkable but that means a bit less flavor than I'd like to see on the palate. Good for sessions. Paired with an earthy Brie cheese.

$4 for the 4oz. pour served at the Grog. Hazy, yellowish, and wheaten, with notes of champagne yeast, biscuits, apple cider vinegar, spelt, hay, and some light funk. A solid sipper.
