| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 23, 2008 Clear bright gold with an extremely fine, rocky bright white head that sits and stays throughout the pint leaving nice lacing.
Incredibly complex nose of sour citrus and peppery, clovey spiciness. Malt lurks underneath providing crackery support. Amazing nose.
Razor sharp sourness leads the palate, slicing through crisp maltiness. The spicy yeast notes run rampant, but perhaps outweigh the malt leading to a bit of an imbalance, but this is still really, really good.
Microscopic carbonation washes everything away a bit quickly, but makes this beer an outstanding companion to spicier foods. The palate may not quite live up to the nose, but I can’t think of many beers that could. ditmier (1057), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2008 2007 Bottle - Foamed out the top the second I opened it... very high Co2 and a great nose. I got a ton of yeast and grain, very little hop, nice Saison overall. Would be much nicer in the summer after mowing the lawn, but I agree that @ 4.5%, way more to offer than I expected. illidurit (876), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 22, 2008 Poured into a pint glass, since I didn’t have a tulip on hand. Monstrous, rocky head that sticks around forever, both on top of the body and on the glass. The beer is a pale gold color and the head is eggshell.
Aroma is very gueuze-like. Tartness is the only note here, but it’s very appealing.
Taste is halfway between Girardin 1882 and Fantome Saison. The sourness is toned down, and there’s a touch of grassy hops in the finish.
A little overcarbonated, nice medium-light body, dry finish. Quite quaffable. AmEricanbrew (1808), Doing Rogue, Louisiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Cloudy gold with a huge foaming head which settles to a whipped cream topping. Dry, spicy earthy funk aroma. Medium body. Dustbowl dry flavors of grainy pale malts with an earthy yeast essence. Has a light hop bite to finish. Lots of flavor for 4.5%, a regular in my fridg. 397 MaxxDaddy (263), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours pale hazy yellow with large fluffy white head, not much retention with a little lacing. Aroma is big brett, along with some citrus and spices. Taste has more brett in store, along with a bit of spiciness and kind of minerally. A bit prickly on the tongue and finishes yeasty and tart. Goes down very easy, I can see why people call this an every day beer. jessbnjess (15), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Poured a cloudy orange-yellow with large white head that quickly dissipated and slight lacing. Aroma is a little spicy and much more sour than I expected - it definitely smells like a Jolly Pumpkin. Flavor yeasty, a little spicy, and slightly tart. Finish definitely shows the tartness and spice, and the flavor lingers for a while. I would definitely enjoy this beer again. AskForJenny (632), Ontario, New York, USA
