MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Dec 16, 2007 golden color huge frothy white head w/ soapy lacing. Great odd funky aroma some light hay, lots of yeast notes a hint of leather. Avg pal. Nice light flavor touch of corriander, some light peppers, a touch of leather and pepper. Nice saison. Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA Dec 16, 2007 I poured this into my new Surly glass that has curves in the glass walls up to the top so it has the same affect as the tulip, but without so much nose activity.
Pours a great white head that leaves a great lacing behind and leaves the head still sitting there. Color is gold and very clear. The smell is sour and gueuze like, slightly fruity, and light. The first thing I noticed was the high carbonation on the mouth, almost soda like. The flavor is lighter than the smell and more wheat-like at the end. The sour flavor is very subdued and nice. Very drinkable, but hard to find. This one cost me $14/six pack. chef201atc (249), Weatherford, Texas, USA Dec 15, 2007 Slightly cloudy straw colored pour, smallish white head. Just a hint of funk, some barnyard, hay, and flowers on the nose – nice! Very light and refreshing palate. Actively carbonated. Flavor is somewhat straw-like, a bit spicy, with a dry and slightly hoppy finish. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Dec 13, 2007 Bottle: Poured golden and lightly cloudy, with a sustained but thin top. The aroma had strength ... evident from a couple feet away -- orange peel, country spices. It’s incredibly tingly and effervescent on the palate ... starkly spicy and dry. Very nicely put together beer with exceptional balance. (#3245, 12/13/2007) corby112 (677), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 12, 2007 Pours a golden yellow, slightly orange color with big, foamy white head. Aroma of citrus, apple, orange peel, lemon, alochol and hops. Flavor is filled with fruit especially citrus fruits such as lemon and orange. Hints of apple, hops and sweet spices with a mild alcohol presence. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 11, 2007 Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a a white head. Aroma is tart fruit, some wheat, and acidity. Flavor is tart fruit, some spice, lots of carbonation, spice, with a dry tart finish. probstk (1011), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Dec 9, 2007 12 fl. oz. bottle via Lubiere, served at cellar temp in a tulip glass..
App.: Surprisingly clear, bright golden with a diminishing white froth.
Aroma: Huge amounts of citrus, organic acids, funk and very bitter greens, some light apple-like fruitiness, a hit of yeast, a little cheese.
Palate: Medium-light body, plentiful but soft effervescence.
Flav.: Light citrus, a touch of wood, a bit of that apple fruitiness, the bitter greens and organic acids are pleasantly subdued; a little tart and bitter to finish, with a faint citrus aftertaste.
I’m not a fan of Jack Russells, but I like their beer. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 1, 2007 Bottle courtesy ucusty. Pours cloudy light gold with a thin white head. Spicy lemon and biscuit aroma. Light body and moderate carbonation. Peachy taste. Spicy, funky semi-dry finish with a bit of medicinal aftertaste that kinda messes with an otherwise tasty beer.
