bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 26, 2007 Bottle: cloudy orange with a lasting foamy white head, citrus aroma, taste is citrus, spice, dry, some sourness - overall kinda reminds me of champagne, not really my kind of beer but it is interesting. beermaniac (86), Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2007 Aroma: Barnyard brett, spicy clove, and fruity pineapple. Nice.
Appearance: Huge, creamy white head upon pour, cloudy straw color.
Flavor: Spicy and bretty with a dry finish. Some hop notes, and some malt sweetness, but pretty dry.
Palate: Good carbonation and thinnish body makes for a dry finish, but very refreshing and to style.
Overall: Very interesting beer, very drinkable. Brett is there but some hop and other yeast character shines through, Brett does not overpower beer. Good stuff. Smaller Saison but full of flavor. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2007 12 oz. Bottle. Appearance is a cloudy orange color...small white head. Aroma is yeast and lemony citrus. Tart with a good amount of hop bitternesss. Highly carbonated with anice amount of body. enjoyable. undsioux7 (553), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Oct 19, 2007 Pours hazy deep yellow with a big pillowy head that sticks around. Some nice floaties in ther also. Nice light farmehouse funk with some citris, lemon and just a bit of light spice. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma.
Jolly Pumkin has the subtle taste down pact. The mouthfeel almost feels watery but yet has tons of flavor at the same time!
grimreeser (795), Minnesota, USA Oct 19, 2007 Pours a hazy golden color with a decent sized chunky head. Aroma is citrus and some funk. Interesting flavor, sweet and tart with a little bite at the end. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Oct 19, 2007 Sitting here, looking at my glass and reading a few BP reviews. Did they get a fresh bottle? Did the funk inside not have time to develop? Because the beer I had was like a mini-gueuze in terms of horseblankety goodness. Tart, lemony, and a bit peppery in the nose to go with that funky funk. Appearance is a cloudy mustard yellow, huge billowy head with lots of clumps here and there as the head goes down. Flavor was tart, citric, slightly bitter, a touch of yeast, subtle pepper/spicy notes while the entire time the beer just dances on your tongue. Excellent beer. Reminded me in some ways of Girardin black label, just really, really toned down. Excellent beer and I highly recommend it.
emerson430 (87), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Oct 16, 2007 Wonderful Beer ... spicy and tart without being sour. Fantastic nose, and pleasantly sweet with a well balanced hop background. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Oct 16, 2007 A bit of a gusher when opened up. The pour was a cloudy rich gold color with some faint copper highlights. Lots of turbidity and sediment floating. The head was off-white and quite nice. Creamy and long lasting, providing nice lacing. The aroma was a nice blend of malt, oak, sour fruit and light funk. The flavor had a distinct menthol and band-aid flavors that were a bit off-putting initially. As it opened up more flavors came into play, sour fruit, earthy, oak and funk. The mouthfeel was very nice and the brew was medium bodied.
