Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Aug 21, 2007 Bottle, Many thanks to Craig aka Cgarvieuk for picking this up from the GBBF for me Poured dull hazy gold with floaters aplenty, aroma sour and hoppy. I had this beer off of Craig without realising what it was, never looked it up and with very little indication on the label as to what style/sort of beer I was gonna get. So my initial thought was that it tasted like a feeble lambic at first with bitter, sharp lemony bite very refreshing and a great summer beer, but my curiosity got the better of me and I had to come and check on here as to what on earth this beer was meant to be, a Saison? To be honest I’ve had very few Saison’s to know whether this is typical of the style but so I’m not the best judge but it tastes like its trying to bridge a gap by being an extreme example. Having tasted this and thinking it was a lambic I wondered what others had to say about this I must say I agree with Harrisoni (Ian) with his comment below it is a bit mixed up and not sure what it is, thats not to say that its bad far from it, in fact its a real grower but it just tastes a bit confused for me to really love it. tagz (334), USA Aug 19, 2007 Updated: Nov 8, 2007bottle. pours clear, metallic, yellow-orange with nice cakey white head. aroma of musty yeast and orange. tastes of hay, light clove, orange. slighty tart and funky. mild bitter helps pull everything together. sharp, crisp carbonation. champagne like effervescence. a fantastic balance of flavors.
re incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Aug 19, 2007 What the hell is this stuff? Had on cask at Happy Gnome. Pours a sickly looking yellowish, cloudy, orange color. This had zero carbonation, perhaps from being on cask? Very dull, flavorless, and just weird. Probably should try it fresh from the bottle to see what it is really like. Not for me. illkarate (89), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 17, 2007 Bottle, poured a beautiful yellow color with the slightest hint of orange. Nice full head that is in no rush to dissipate. Aroma of citrus (lemon and maybe pomelo), tastes of hay, citrus, coriander, nice spices. Great summer saison. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 15, 2007 Thanks to miketd for the bottle. Pours hazy gold with thick, frothy head. lots of lacings and floaters! Very lively beer. citrus flavorss. almost a sweet and sour not harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 14, 2007 Cask gravity at GBBF 2007. Cloudy gold with lasting beige head. Saison farmyard aroma. Some hop and good spice over a mild farmyard. Fragrant. Is it a saison, is it a lambic? It’s like a good saison or a good lambic but not sure the mix of both works. Kidsmoke (4), USA does not count Aug 14, 2007 Tons of head that lasts and lasts, along with a good deal of carbonation giving it a zing. Citrusy/Fruity, spicy and also, at times a tiny hint of pumpkin. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Aug 13, 2007 Bottle@GBBF07. Citrus, grass and herbs aroma. Hazy, pale yellow color, off-white head, fair lace. Very citric, fruity, lemon, bit grassy. Nice soft mouthfeel.
