Commercial Description:
This delicious farmhouse ale is named for our Jack Russell, who struck by a car, bounced back in fine tenacious Jack Russell fashion, and is brewed for those of us who knocked down, have picked up, dusted off and carried on undaunted. Golden, naturally cloudy, bottle conditioned and dry hopped for a perfectly refreshing balance of spicy malts, hops and yeast. Please enjoy our beers in good health, And look both ways when crossing the street!

My first saison and what a door it opened. This is a unique and different type of beer. I love dogs so the story of the Jack Russell made me think about my own dog who has bone cancer and loves beer as much as I do. The pour was a carbonated gold with a huge half glass head that painted the glass. The aroma was like a Belgian. Spicy and yeast. The taste was very different. Spicy, sour and hoppy. Very dry and very good. My eyes are opened!

BAM BITCHES!! This is a great brew. Light golden pour with a light white head. Very sour smell with light citrus. Taste is more mellow in the sourness then I expected but pretty sour for a saison. Very easy to drink. Not a whole lot of carbonation and a little bitterness which works for this beer.

Amen. Bought a 6 Pack of this and it was definately enjoyed. Would have preferred if the bottles didn’t gush, but it seems to come with the territory for farmhouse ales. I enjoyed the flavor and it was authentic.

Pour is a bright gold with a very large white head. Aroma is citurs and spicy and very peppery. Flavor is more of the citrus with some barnyard and follows through with some creamy yeast. A very easy drinking and light version of the style.

12 oz. bottle from Holiday Wine Cellars. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge white head that left thick lacing. Aroma is dominated by dry, woody, funk and sweat, with wet earth, daisies and herbal notes. Light complex, dry flavor, bitter and astringent with hints of not quite ripe fruit, dandelion milk, flower petals, juniper and wood. Light to medium body, mildly carbonated. Quite enjoyable overall.

Pours a hazy light gold into a tulip. Lasting fluffy white micro head. Orange aspergum aromas. Fizzy and dry with bitter fruit aspirin flavors and a lasting bitter finish.

Cloudy yellow gold hue, with a frothy white head, yeasty, fruity nose of star fruit and lime, with a juicy floral hop citrusy accent, a subtle tartness and mustiness, even some brettanomyces, great! in a good way, in my case, with a mild hop leafiness accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a zesty, yeasty, citrusy lime character, with a nice spicy herbal hop note, with an acidic fruitiness, hint of wild yeast tartness, a bit grassy, leading towards a citrus, dry leafiness hop bitterness finish.

Rerate: I love the intermingling of the yeastiness and the hops and the pilsner malt that (as my good friend says) cushions the beer. Fascinating. I take back my comment about a watery hole in the palate as that clearly was just the first bottle. The slightest sourness you could imagine. Upped the flavor and overall .1each. Original: Entered as a Saison, as Ron has said explicitly that this beer is modeled after Thiriez XXtra. And boy is it! The word that springs to mind here is pillowy softness; it’s not that the hops aren’t assertive, as they most certainly are, it’s just that the whole concoction is smooth and the flavors are so well-melded. The hops are flowery and smelling like pencil shavings, with a delectable subtle acidity. Straw and biscuit flavors, and the whole thing gets better with the yeast pour; softer, more expansive. A slight hole in the palate is detected (wateriness) midway through the flavors. Delicious, hits the intended mark, and scores better because of the value for your dollar. Having only had 1 bottle and a half of this beer, I cannot wait to drink it in large quantities, all spring and summer long.
