Ughsmash (2835), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Mar 10, 2006 Bottled. Pour was a most excellent medium golden with a well-retained white head... persistent rising bubbles gave a cool effect. This just shows that a delicate, low-gravity brew can be so phenominally executed. Nose was ever-so-soft, with freshly-squeezed lemon, musty old barn, wheat, and a great spice blend. Soft again with the water and carbonation on the palate. First flavor impression with a mildly sour and funky blend of lemongrass and brett. Mild cobwebs, earth, and spices followed. Light in body, with tremendous flavor transition from the initial sour and funky notes through the smooth malty middle to the spicy and citrusy finish. Amazingly refreshing! Testament to the brewer’s art!
gilvanblight (322), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Jul 20, 2008 Very light yellow pour. Nice lacing. Fruity nose. Somewhat sweet. Overcarbonated. A touch malty. Not bad at all. Very frothy clingy head. CamdenD (557), Madrid, Spain Jul 20, 2008 Highly enjoyable Saison, still my favorite "summer" type "seasonal" beer. Jolly Pumpkin does well to make this very drinkable yet sensational enough to warrant its price tag. Bitter and smooth. guyinchicago (196), marengo, Illinois, USA Jul 18, 2008 As i cracked the top it started over flowing. its alive thank god i had my glass in hand. pours a cloudy yellow with a thick creamy tight one inch head I think this is my first saison though i do have one in the cellar from dark lord day 2008. aromas of friut and hops taste is of hops.spicy malts and some citrus flavors and other fruit esters. thin and lively with a mild sweet bitterness from the finishing hops a great summer beer furly (3), belleville, Michigan, USA does not count Jul 9, 2008 the farmhouse ale is great.so much flavor and not heavy at all.this is a great beginers beer.i live 20 minutes from dexter, michigan where jolly pumkin is located.its store is open on friday only 12-6pm worth the trip stock up.there is no bar though. sleestak (28), Williamston, Michigan, USA Jul 6, 2008 Batch 273,274. Happily, this is the first JP beer I’ve opened that failed to spray most of its contents out on the kitchen counter. Good start! Poured a lovely honey gold with a white head reminiscent of a lemon meringue pie. Funky yeast and citrus nose. Flavor was beautifully spicy and lemony with just a whiff of hop bitterness. Finishes very dry, very refreshing. This, along with the nice light, bubbly mouthfeel make it the perfect beer for a July heatwave.
