4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 859/861 Bottled 8-3-2011
Served in a Duvel Tulip.
A - Pours a hazy golden color with a 2 finger head that held up very well. A few droopy lines of lacing.
S - Funky basement yeast, spicy, dusty dry grass, pears, sourdough bread, tangy fruit, dank wheat malt,
T - Nice tart lemon upfront, allspice, heavy dose of pepper, soured fruit, dried apples and pears, the brett yeast is more subtle than the nose but really compliments the beer. Notes of wood in the background. Finishes dry with a crisp citrus bite at the end.
M - Moderate foamy carbonation settles down a bit half way through the glass, light to medium body.
Not super complex but great flavors packed into a small ABV. Very impressed by that.
The lemon was a tad lactic, plenty of spiciness, solid fruity middle with a dry finish. The aroma was almost perfect for what I want a Saison to smell like. I liked this better than the E.S. Bam.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml Bottle shared at the Midlands meeting on 23rd Aug 2014, cheers Tom. Hazy pour with a thin head. No horse blankets but plenty of farmyard aromas along with some citrus notes. The taste is similar but with a mild peppery and spicy feel within the flavours, there is also a sourness from those citrusy hints in the nose: my first beer from Jolly Pumpkin and hopefully not my last.

Pretty cloudy beige beer, small creamy off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: artificial brett, bit fruity, lemony, yeast. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: funky, artificial brett, yeasty, spices, bit dusty, lemony, soapy bitterness. Aftertaste: artificial brett, unpleasant bitterness, lemony, weird.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Aroma has the saison aroma, but also hints toward white wine as well. Appearance is a hazy gold with a frothy, white head. Taste is saison with a taste that reminds me of green grape skins. Palate is ok. Overall, a great saison. Not overpowering like most saisons.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was bottled on July 20, 2011 and I don't think it's stood up so well to the test of time. Had a nice off White head that settled right away, no lace and a clear yellow amber color. Aroma was the best part which is like green apples and yeast. Flavor was good but just in a kind of generic farmhouse /saison sort of way, nothing remarkable. Body seemed a little be a little on the thin side.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was basically a light to semi - hazy orange to bronze color. There was a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving a light lacing here and there and all over the place.
The smell had a decent light grassy lemon allowing a light pepper to invade lightly to even bring in a light lime as well. As it warmed even further, there was a light sour apple.
The taste was mainly sweet with a light lime/lemon and then the sour apple.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The aftertaste was slightly sour but yields a gentle lemon/lime to sour apple finish.
Overall, interesting saison I say. Would I have it again? Probably not due to the price.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 9-3-12-
Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Pours a hazy orange color with a huge white head. The head has amazing persistence and leaves a very nice level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is of lemon citrus and yeast. With this are some lighter aromas of a sour apple and some pine hop notes as well.
Taste – The taste starts out of a bread and lemon sour flavor. As the taste advances the sourness grows stronger with some tartness of hits the tongue. The bread flavor is rather light now and the sourness and tart flavors of lemon get stronger with some yeast flavors and a lighter earthy and grassy hop flavor coming to the tongue. The sour flavors transition from being just lemon to a more lemon-apple mix as the taste advances to the end with the flavor crisping up a bit to leave a bittered bite on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the lighter side with the carbonation level being rather high. Very standard.
Overall – A decent saison,, but at the price you pay for it is not really one to go after -rather standard.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle batch 494. Hazy yellow with a very large white head. Farmhouse, light band aid, crisp apple, mouldy, light pepper, wood, earthy. Light body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, light sweet, light/medium bitter and light sour. I think the high carbonation lowers the drinkability a bit, but otherwise a very pleasant beer to drink. Kind of a farmhouse thing with a lambic touch.
