3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This poured hazy and light golden in color with a white head that faded gradually. The aromas were of lemon rind, grapefruit, pine and some spice. In the mouth it is light-bodied with lots of carbonation and tartness. The finish turns dry and maintains the bitter tartness from the front of the palate.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Unique taste. But as a personal decision, I found it to be delicious. Taste it cold be ready for the sour taste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on tap at Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor. It poured a cloudy golden hue with a frothy white head and streaky lacing. Sweet sour aroma of apples and clove. Sour tasting yet easy going down. Not one of my main styles, yet a nice introduction to JP.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ RBBSG, 2014. Thanks omgrich! Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Aroma of citrus with some sour apples. Light sour and watery, some spices. Refreshing but not very complex.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to omgrich! 2011.Golden, white head. Weak watery sour with some mushy strawberry, oak, brett, watery, weak herbs, touch citrus and sugar. I am going to quote my review for 2013 La Roja here since both these beers are quite similar “just weak & watery. Not sure why this is rated so high, it is not terrible or anything but for a sour this is weak to say the least. Have the critters thinned it do much?” I have had some nice Jolly Pumpkin beers but these two & the sour profile, I do not get. At least they do not use the same sour mix as everyone else.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This review is from a bomber dated May 2013
Pours a cloudy, yellow body. Head is two fingers and pearly white. Head retention was good and lacing was outstanding.
Smell is of tart lemon rind, peppery Belgian yeast, and abit of straw malt/barnyard funk. Alcohol aroma is slightly present.
Taste is of sour, Belgian yeast, some lemon peel too. Pale malts are also there but hops aren’t detected. Alcohol is very light and there is a slight bandaid aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is on the lighter side. Lots of effervescence, also astringent/tannic. Head added some smoothness to beer.
Overall, this was a tasty, lighter style beer. Beautiful to look at but the bandaid and funk flavors just didn’t combine well for this particular beer. Very easy to drink the bomber but don’t think I’ll be revisiting this one anytime soon.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Jeez, what a tasty flagship beer. Cloudy golden color with a pleasant yeasty aromatic and flavor. Really refreshing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
That cute doggy would make me get this every time. Plus it’s fantastic. That always helps. A cloudy, light-hazel straw pour with a crisp and active foam. Barnyard, bubblegum, yeast, lemon and cloves come out in the nose. Some peat, light earthiness, floral hops and lots of yeast and bread are in flavour town. A highly drinkable and enjoyable Saison.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another really nice Jolly Pumpkin beer with that JP flavor. Doughy, yeasty, lightly herbal grassy and nicely tart on the finish. Little sweetness and a fair amount of spices make this one interesting. Crushable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml capped bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a huge white head that has excellent retention and leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon zest with some yeasty and spice notes. Taste is a lemon zest and spicy bitterness with an underlying malt sweetness finishing dry and yeasty. A quality crafted brew that is full of flavor and appealing to the eye. Highly recommended for the Belgian style beer afficionado.
