One of Bam's brown eyes is, in fact, black. When mischief reigns supreme, it positively glows. Dedicated to the dark side; smooth, dark, incredibly delicious as only a Jack Russell with bat wings can be.

Pours a dark red color with a large, white head. Aroma is yeasty, a bit funky. Sharp, tart body with a dry finish. A touch sour. This beer is like an overall muted version of Bam Biere.

12 oz bottle. Pours medium brown with red hues and an off-white head. Nose is spicy and fruity. Sour, funky flavor with that great brett twang. Finish is lingering. Very earthy. I drank this with my Thanksgiving meal and I thought it was a great compliment to the overall meal.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear ruby red in color with a small lasting beige head. The aroma is tart fruits, light yeast, brett, and some wood. The flavor is fruity, heavy on the wood, medium sweet, cherries, with an earthiness surrounding everything. Light/medium body. I’m not sure what to make of this one. It’s not something that I think I would do again.

12 oz bottle. Brown/amber pour. Fairly carbonated, with a lactic, sour, medicinal aroma. Flavor is fairly weak, with a spicy, sour, medicinal flavor throughout. I seem to get a lot of these JP beers in trades, and to be honest it’s a brewery that just work with me. Just not my thing.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2007 In short: An original dry fruity dark ale. Good but a bit off. This is no Bam Bičre.
How: Montreal-crew sour-beer tasting. Bottle from Beerbuzzmontreal.
The look: Dark brown body with a medium beige head
In long: The aroma was a mix of raisins and this weird rubber/new toy smell. Body was very fluffy to the point of feeling a bit empty. Taste is dry, a bit woody, prune juice and a little wet ashes. Sounds off… and it was. Not a bad beer at all but compared to its sister the Bam Bičre (one of my favourite beer ever) this is a big letdown. Strong yeast presence but very little of that funkiness that I expect from a Jolly Pumpkin especially one bearing the name Bam. I guess being black and being funky at the same time is just not possible. With folk singers it’s the other way around.

From a 750ml bottle--Poured a light black-brown body with a beige-tan head. Sour nose with hints of spicy and floral fruits. Lactic acid flavor, tart and grassy. Lemony and roasty. A strange complexity that is not so sessionable, but quite interesting and unique. Easy to appreciate.

750 from jjpm/beastiefan/MJ’s rare beer club. A disappointment, coming form JP. Very buttery oak aroma with lactose and minerals. Blunt buttery oak in the flavor with a tropical fruit explosion and a light, dry finish. Not doing it for me.

Bottle. Brown pour with a tan head. The nose is pretty lactic. Very lightly flavored. Subtle spiciness with nice malt character. Dry.

bottle. pours a dark copper brown with a sizable off-white head that sticks around and laces a bit. wow, smell is straight funk at first, it sort of smells like minestrone, a bit spicy and red-vegetably. i have certainly never smelled a beer like this. very earthy taste with a slight acidic note. hints of more funk and some dark roasted malts. finishes with a bit of sourness that builds up over time, little to no bitterness, and only a touch of sweetness. great creamy medium light mouthfeel, but a rather boring palate. decent carbonation. very different and interesting beer. complex, but not terribly tasty for me. i’m glad i tried it, but i won’t be seeking it out again.

Bottle, dark clear bronze with a light, bubbly, beige head. Very horsey/bretty nose. Flavor has notes of wood, light grassy/herbal hops, brett, lemon, vinegar and some toastiness as well. Very well-attenuated and dry - light bodied with a very lively, bubbly carbonation. Good stuff.
