demitriustown (564), Macomb, Michigan, USA May 10, 2008 750 ml bottle: An awesome sour apple, sweet, yeast, a little bit of caramel malt and some fruit undertones. Appearance is a deep dark reddish brown with a thick tan head that lingers for a while. Taste is subtle but very refreshing. The notes in the aroma don’t really pop. Nice and tart with some lingering yeast. Palate is nicely carbonated, lip feel is bubbly, mouth feel is light with a lightly malty aftertaste. Overall, It’s pretty good stuff. Not as good as the regular Bam or the ES bam IMHO. Cheers!
AndrewKScott (319), Lemont, Illinois, USA Aug 12, 2008 Batch #250. Pours a dirty brown with resilient, thick tan head. Aroma is musty, sweet hay, dust, sourness. Taste is earthy, barnish, with sour grapes, pears, unripe plums, tart apple, also a bit of toasted malts. Mouthfeel is very airy, shockingly light and well-carbonated. This is one of the most interesting ales I’ve ever had in my life, I highly recommend trying it. Ibrew2or3 (1648), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Aug 7, 2008 Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours dirty dark brackish brown with thin tan head. The aroma is mildly musty dark fruit with hints of dark roastiness that moves into tartness. The taste jumps alive with carbonation attacking the senses with tartness blending into mild wood barrel like bugginess funk. The tartness grows along with hints of dark roastiness. Ends pure tart with a feel of dry wateriness. Interesting. Floback (237), N-town, Florida, USA Aug 5, 2008 Pint bottle from Knightly Spirits. This beer reveals a massive 2-inch off-white head from a quick and hastily-executed pour due to my zealousness. A richly dark-brown colored body and hugely sour Brett aroma adds to my excitement. Flavors are enticing and refreshing with pleasant dark fruits-the good ones, earthy musk, brown sugar, mysterious grape, and wood chips. High carbonation and medium/full body. This is quite similar to the enigmatic Dark Dawn Stout, yet strangely different. Delicious--another winner from Jolly Pumpkin. tripelthreat (11), Soquel, California, USA Jul 31, 2008 Batch 262, 263. Huge head on a dark brown body with burgundy edges. Both sour and sweet cherries and other dark fruit, some funky notes and a spicy, lingering bitter finish. Really strong initial bite from carbonation but mouthfeel is light overall. pintocb (397), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 29, 2008 Pours dark brown, fairly clear. Warm, bready smells fill the nose. The taste is effervescent and fully of earthy spice and some faint tones of sour. Balanced with spicey hops. I like this a lot.
