750ml bottle -
Just an amazing beer full of funky/tart goodness, yet still so drinkable and enjoyable. Shared w/ my brother while smoking som babybacks for the Raider tailgate. Aroma was dusty, slightly citrusy with some pear/apple juice with some light malt-vinegar note. Totally different that what one would expect looking at a beer as dark as this. Creamy dense white head, milky with a black body. Musty flavor, dry with just a touch of funky/citrus. Very light touch of roasty-dry bitterness comes thru. Really a beautiful session beer. Easy to drink large amounts of this.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: medium brown, lightly clouded, with a short, creamy light tan head. Aroma: toasted brown bread, earthy funk, wet wood. Taste: saison barnyard funk with a hint of brett, a bit roasty and toasty with darker malts, a hint of Belgian waffle and pine nut . Finish: typical JP finish--slightly sour and funky, but with lingering toasted bread notes to darken it up. Notes: Thought this was a really creative darker saison. A little toasty to go with the usual JP funk. Enjoyable. On draught at Victoria’s Gastropub, Columbia, Maryland.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL bottle. Pours a murky dark brown color, translucent, with a big ’ol puffy white head that lingers forever. Good lacing/adhesion. Aroma is definitely sour, some brett sourness and a hint of spice. Taste matches, sour, with a tinge of roasted malt. Palate is slightly thin, and has an unsatisfying bitter finish that I think is lacking. Not the greatest overall but interesting nonetheless -- also a terrible description by the brewery.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
this is a pretty cool beer. of course it has the standard funky/sour/wild aspect that pretty much all JP beers have in common...and that’s a good thing. the dark malt lends a bit of sweetness and body too, but after that there’s nothing to it. little follow through. another good beer from them, but so far only the LaRoja was great!"

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma of Saison yeast is accompanied with notes of toasted malt and Brett. A dark pour that when held to the light has a beautiful ruby glow and supports a voluminous ivory head and stringy lacing. On the palate, dark fruit and wood with hints of malt and Brett end in a dry bitter finish. Medium-light body with crisp, almost biting carbonation. Overall, an enjoyable twiste on a Saison.
