One of Bam's brown eyes is, in fact, black. When mischief reigns supreme, it positively glows. Dedicated to the dark side; smooth, dark, incredibly delicious as only a Jack Russell with bat wings can be.

Pours a dark reddish copper beer with a good frothy white head. Smells a little bit sour. Bit cheesy. Tastes a bit roasted. A little bit sour too. Not much carbo and a thin body. Watery sticky texture. Nice beer for in the sun.

Tap pours a hazelnut brown with tall near khaki foam. A pleasant funky Belgian sour aroma. While the nose was great the flavor leaves a lot to be desired. Light all around, dark malts leave a roasted bitterness, the funky near Flanders red aroma never really shows much of any sourness. It’s enjoyable but overall a very mild Belgian brown ale with wheat.

Bottle share at Cotteridge Wines. Pale brown, cloudy, big off-white head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, sour. Body is medium, low carbonation, pretty foamy in the mouth. Taste is tangy biscuity malt, earthy, soft bitterness.

24th Jan 2015: shared bottle at the Cotteridge Wines meet. Poured a hazy, cloudy brown body with a weak head. Sour notes from the start , fruity, yeasty and notes of dirty farmyards in both the aroma and taste. Not my sort of thing, but a fine example of a Saison.

25.4oz bottle, Batch 920 Bottled 10-18-2011, so 3.25+ years ago. Nose is lightly sweet but quite tart with lactic, lots of floral and lightly lavender tones. Pours deep amber-ruby with a large rocky tan head. Taste is sweet and tart but not particularly sour, all kinds of dry Brett scratchiness, some earth and black pepper, old leafy greens that have faded; body thinned out significantly (actually quite dry from the attenuation perspective), need to get some wheat and oats into this jawn. Touch dust, hay, wood but not roast at all at this point,.not getting any "noir" character to distinguish this from a generic, accidentally soured saison. Will happily seek a fresh bottle, but for now this stands as a misstep from JP.

Bottled, sampled at The Cotteridge Wines Convention, supplied by mR_fr0g many thanks. Hazy to cloudy amber with slight head. I had a sour sweetcorn note from this, if that is possible, some sourish fruit. A heavy beer for a saison in my eyes. Not really sure about it.
