Bouteille 750ml.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Steeeve (326) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 3, 2013
750ml bottle, sticker says batch #614, bottled 8/19/10. Dull reddish brown with a thick, foamy light khaki head. Intense tartness wafting up from the glass during the pour. Dry and earthy, notes of peach, grain, lemon, and leather. Taste is a little more restrained than the sour nose led me to believe. Slightly tart, with light flavors of figs, pears, and toast. Finish is very dry with a little kick of lactic sourness. Mouthfeel is crisp and highly carbonated, scrubbing the palate clean and leaving me ready for another dose of sourness. Overall this is a very well-made beer. I loved it at first, then kinda hated it, but eventually settled between joy and contentedness. It’s an easy drinking farmhouse ale with some funk thrown in.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marheb (1167) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 28, 2013
Très délicat avec ses malts rotis et son acidité en fin de bouche, rien de mémorable, buvabilité interessante.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 AGAquino (654) - San Juan, PUERTO RICO - APR 2, 2013
On tap at the Jolly Pumpkin Cafe & Brewery. Menu description of "aroma of worn leather" is spot on. Slightly dry, some tartness, quite refreshing.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 skoll (396) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - APR 2, 2013
Pours a dark brown with a thick froth of a beige head that really lasted. The aroma has a definitive sourness to it, like that of tart cherries. The taste has more of that sourness, but with a dark, plum type of characteristic. left that sour taste on my pallet a beer that I did not enjoy one bit. Sorry Jolly Pumpkin this was jst not my style.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ChainGangGuy (4120) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 16, 2013
750ml bottle - $8.99 at Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.
Batch 1013 - Bottled 1-31-2012.
Appearance: Pours a hazed, dark russet-toned body with a tall, well-frothed, airy, off-white head.
Smell: Funky, phenolic aroma, first and foremost, sporting notes of leather saddle, decomposing tree bark, ultra faint cocoa, slight dark fruitiness, spicy-scented gentian and ginseng root, and, well, a hint of musty, ole ass.
Taste: Leather-bound raisins with heavily toasted, nutty malt and a little touch of chocolate powder. Very low sweetness. Shredded gentian, a touch of mentho-lyptus. Soiled wooden note, hint of citrus. Extra spice. Splash of stomach juices atop old straw. Some of those early malt hints try to come forth on the back half. Dry with a tongue-coating lactic funkiness on the heavily sudsy, positively gassy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Highly carbonated, foaming in the mouth with each sip.
Overall: As always, it’s another weird, wild ride from Jolly Pumpkin.

bottle. Brown with very small head. The tart sour characteristics don’t quite work for me in this context. A bit of a mess flavorwise. First Jolly Pumpkin that’s ever been a disappointment.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Idiosynkrasie (1832) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAR 5, 2013
750ml bottle. Hazy dark amber to brown colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Unspecific tart aroma. Taste is tart with anaemic dark malty background. Unbalanced.
