dankman38 (217), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Jan 10, 2008 Updated: Jan 24, 2008 Pours a bright, cloudy reddish brown with a tannish head. Smells a bit funky with spice and a bit of fruit. Tastes sour and dry with spicy fruit accents. Finishes dry with some bitterness. Nice beer, I’m glad I decided to try it when I was sober. 1/24/07- rating extension; enjoyed from a cask 5 days ago and sipping from a bottle now, it seems that the bottled version is much dryer but the cask brought out the fruit and spice.
travita (640), Lewisville, Texas, USA Jul 8, 2008 Brown color with a nice cream colored head. Smell is apples, other fruit, a little tart, and spices. Taste is tangy, fruits, some yeast. Interesting beer. Not bad a little different. darkguardian (131), Florida, USA Jul 6, 2008 22oz bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours an awesome dark mahogany color with a densely packed long lasting beige head. Nose is awesomely sour and funky with hints of candied fruits and spice. Heavy nose, almost like an ABT. This beer is incredibly underated in my opinion. Very unique stout like flavors up front with toasted malts giving way to a spicy finish with light sourness. Very drinkably but the palate is very full. This beer is a marvel of design. Absolutely terrific. 1_2many (109), Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle from bigmmartin. This wasn’t very good in my opinion. I’m not sure what was going on but there wasn’t much aroma to this at all. Just a little yeast. Extremely bland with just some very mild sourness. I’m sorry but this really didn’t taste like much of anything. More water than anything to me. I want to try this again after seeing other reviews to make sure my palate wasn’t inhibited in any way while I drank this, but for now this was extremely disappointing. Bigmmartin (100), Kettering, Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle: This is an overall disappointing Saison. Pretty bland, with not much to speak of as far as aroma or flavor. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t really get much taste from this beer. Of course it has a yeasty farmhouse aroma, but that’s about it. Kind of boring, but not horrible. daknole (492), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 4, 2008 Well this bottle was my first adventure into the Jolly Pumpkin line of beers. And I have to say I really didn’t enjoy it all that much. I think that the sourheads wont have another member soon. The funk and tartness is just too much for me.
