3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy chocolate brown pour with an explosive, huge, chunky beige head, even though it was poured fairly gently, that has decent retention and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is, funky, stone fruit, mineral and cereal. Flavor is somewhat funky, somewhat sour, some tart stone fruit, hints of spice, light woody notes, hints of toast and cereal, floral, sharp spicy, and citrus hops. Light crisp and dry feel with a light, but quite blanketing and fairly sharp carbonation, amazing it had any left after the explosive pour. Really tasty stuff, packs a good amount of intensity and complexity for 4.3%. Without being overpowered by the pleasant funky notes, I might add.

A dark saison huh..well, aroma of sour fruit and cherries. Huge frothy tan head. Sips light like a framboise with its consistency and flavor. Does have a bit of that barnyard/cellar flavor that u find in the saisons. Fruity and sour.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle bought someplace I don’t remember. Pours hazy reddish black with a huge frothy mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is funky, tannic and spicy with crackers, biscuits, roasted malts, lemon juice, unflavoured yoghurt, lemon zest, black pepper corns, allspice, dark roast coffee, hay, dry soil, leather, cocoa powder. pumpernickel bread, dry wood, dark grapes and hints of red wine. Taste is sour, funky, tannic, spicy and malty with roasted malts, crackers, biscuits, caramel, lemon juice, unflavoured yoghurt, lemon zest, sour milk, hay, dry soil, black pepper corns, allspice, cloves, dark roast coffee, cocoa powder, dark grapes, lychee and hints of cheap red wine. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, velvety and light to medium bodied. Finish is sour with roasted malts, lemon juice, sour milk, black pepper corns, dark roast coffee, hay, moist wood and hints of caramel and cheap red wine. Tasty funky dark saison that fit the pumpkinseed pesto baked salmon it was served with very well.

Draft at Sybarite Pig in Boca Raton. Snifter. Deep amber pour with one finger white head. Some sporadic lacing. Aroma of bread, barn, Brett, fruits, and candy. Taste is funky barnyard, crackers, salt, light fruits, sour yeasts. Not really a sour but a sour saison. Medium body. Dry, sour finish. Pretty good.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with very light head. Aromas of brett, biscuits, and sugar. Flavors of green wood, sour candy, and resin. Very sharp and sour at first with a mellower finish. Weak for a sour - very sour for a Saison. Certainly not the later even though this style may not have a good definition. Interesting anyways.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy red brown pour. Heavy carbonation, yellow tan head. Nose is bready toasted malt, floral apple/cherry, and yeasty spice. Flavor is biscuity/bread malt, lightly toasted with a light cider tartness. Faint roast. A bit heavy-handed on the carbonation. Abrupty cuts the flavor and palate. Dry. A little residual toast, cider, and cherry.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep caramel-amber top by lush, caramel cream cover. Caramel and woody nose with some dark fruit and traces of butterscotch and roast barley dust, and nuts. With aeration, traces of vinegar emerge. The body, albeit on the thin side, is a splendid mix of dark fruit, nuts, and neutral woodiness and a nice undercurrent of aged vinegar. Spooky good.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This Farmhouse ale really packs a wallop of character.
Nose is slightly sour, with a cranberry like spicy aroma. Pours a dark mahogany, pretty opaque with abundant and resilient head.
Flavor is just perfectly targeted farmhouse style with all of the rich spicules that you'd expect and just a slight tartness on the back. Malts come through cleanly with a highly effervescent mouthfeel.
Batch 19, brewed 3-29-2013 and consumed out of a tulip glass from the bottle.

Another pretty good saison from Jolly Pumpkin. Nice amounts of funk while still being clean and refreshing.
