3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle. borderline bottle bomb. just really, really carbonated. kind of an odd amber color with huge head. the least sour JP beer i’ve had. definitely some funky tartness, but not truly sour. big fruity, floral notes. excellent flavor. wish the carbonation would be dialed back, but otherwise great.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap @ Jolly Pumpkin: Deep, swamp ruby-red color with patches of brown. Dense in color, although light does make it’s way through a bit. Topped with a thin, soapy, rose-tinted layer of foam. Aroma is extremely unique & incredibly complex. Such a mix of spice, flowers, & fruit. Heavily floral up front, like a patch of wild flowers. Notes of heavy hibiscus, lavender, roses, leaves, wood, wet oak, damp & earthy forest floor. Balanced well by notes of cherries, plums, tart apples, & some modest perfume. Back-end complete with a twinge of that signature JP funk; light cork, damp hay, & a nice, old barnyard stall mustiness. Wow. Nice flavor; very refreshing. Also heavily floral, yet soft at the same time. Lightly herbal tea leaves, white pepper, lavender oil, dry hibiscus, clove, tart cherries, light apple, sopping wet driftwood & funky oak. Funk grows to a cheesecloth & damp cellar floor finish with plenty of tannins, grape flavors, spicy yeast esters, & a small kiss of fruit. Dry, crisp, light, quaffable. My head is going to explode. Fantastic beer, one of my favorites from Jolly Pumpkin.

With Z, pours an amber red with a cream colored head. Nose is yeasty with a myriad of spices, and a champagne nose. Taste is spicy with nice yeasty funky notes. Finish is somewhat tart and ends on the same tasting notes. A very tasty flavorful saison. Quaff Score 8 / 10

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Hazy dark amber color, over-the-top white head that finally settles to a thick cover, billowy sheets of lace. Taste is sour malt, hay, and wildflowers that move without incident through the palate to a light finish that drifts endlessly, becoming slightly sour before it disappears. A neat saison, just sour and bitter enough to be highly enjoyable.
