4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled 6/10/13, drank 11/22/13. Brought back from New Orleans to PA.
Extremely lively carbonation. Have to pour very slowly, head grows as much as a finger after pour, tons of bubbles shooting up from bottom of Oxbow tulip. Three fingers thick, frothy, almost meringuey head featuring a pink hue in the right light. Pours a beautiful reddish brown, ruby amber color.
Immediate aroma is a sour cherry funk smell. Upon closer nasal inspection, the funk features any earthy undertone that approaches tobacco. Spicy yeast. The floral notes lurk underneath the predominant funk smell. Once you pick them out, they are fairly prominent. Hibiscus and violet seem most predominant.
Taste follows the nose quite nicely without any real surprises. Sour cherry, funky, Bretty saison flavor leads. Home stretch dips into the floral flavor. Finishes with both tart and near cloying floral sweetness tickling the tongue. Definitely a rose water flavor. That type of sweetness is what lingers on the tongue as this warms.
Despite the lively carbonation, this isn't heavily carbonated on the tongue. The head prickles but not the beer itself. It's actually near medium-bodied with a thick softness, pillowy. I like my saisons more lively on the tongue. Similar to comparing Allagash Interlude mouthfeel to that of Anchorage Lovebuzz.
Pretty good overall funky, tart saison. The floral notes to go along with tartness are interesting and unique. I think it works better in the aroma than the taste. Rose water taste can get a little sweet at times. Jolly Pumpkin knows it's way around a funky beer, though!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750mL bottle, pours a murky dark orangey brown with a huge off-white foamy head. Aroma of light rose petals, hibiscus, and floral notes. Flavour brings out strong flowery notes, hibiscus, and more rose petals. Not a conventional saison by any means. Very flowery and fairly dry, without much residual sweetness. Not a huge fan of these spices / flavours, but for what it is, this is very well-crafted. Solid stuff.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
$13.82 for the 750mL bottle purchased from Hunger Mountain. Consumed just outside of town with a school friend at his flat. To pint, it pours an intensely murky maroon carmine with a turbulent light pinkish head three to four, which gradually sank to, two fingers in length. This is essentially a "rose water lemonade", the apt description we both agreed on. It’s funky, slightly tart, and exemplifies the spirit of a well-aged wine: cabernet sauvignon grapes, hibiscus flowers, cinnamon, vanilla beans, oak, and lemon seeds. White sage, tannins, and juniper berries by swallow. This was my kind of beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer is GREAT. Tons of floral notes and the hibiscus shines through huge and provides a crisp fruity berry complexity. Tartness and medium sweetness provide lots of complexity.
