Rich copper orange body, thick beige head, very effervescent. Fruity sour funky JP aroma, toffee, wood. Flavor: sour, winey, wood, grapey, tannins. Quite deft in body. Very unique flavor for an american beer, and easily one of JP’s better ones.

hazy auburn/maple syrup color with a small off white head.
lots of caramel in the nose... notes of wood, red wine, spicy brett, rubbery cherry skins, slate and flowers.
the palate is a great balance of sweet/caramel versus dry versus tart... toasted walnut skins, lots of tannins, caramel, herbaceous and grassy, wood, brett stink and it’s dryness with a black peppery finish. there’s a lot of watered down wood aged red wine vinegar noted as well. it’s on the lighter side of medium bodied. dry tart mouth feel is slick with little to no carbonation.

this gets way stinkier as it warms near the end of the bottle!

Jan 3, 2009 Bottle...pours a murky copper with a thick cream head. Nose has hints of lime zest, sweet caramel, bread dough, mild barnyard notes and a nice vinous merlot twang. Very tart up front quickly turns dry and oaky...leading to a bit of citrus zest and a dry, clean finish. Gotta love the Jolly Pumpkin!

Dec 22, 2008 Batch 253 sampled at hellbilly*s holiday tasting. Pours a cloudy iced tea amber with a light tan head. Nose is sour cherries, dried fruits, light balsamic vinegar and malt. Taste is tart cherries, light funk, lemon peel with a wet cardboard like finish. Very dry prickly mouth feel. Good stuff.
