The 750 mL bottle itself looks super cool with an epic illustration of some nautcial myth battle or something...cool. The beer pours dark ruby/brown with booming and persistant head. Interesting aromas and flavor. Sour spice, wheaty yeast, nutmeg scents with touches of cinnamon and apple cider to smell. Also quiet floral bouquets are whispered on the nose. Soft sour citrus/spice, peppery tangy taste laced with coriander, citrus, smoked vanilla and berry. A unique brew and one that is worth a try

Bottle: Hazy copper pour with a big white head. Nose is sweet and tart, fruity, and leads into a sour apple note. Taste is woody with wine notes, tart fruitiness, a little hops, and a dry tail. Thanks Jordan!

Pour is a dark orange with a large white head. Aroma is all things barnyard with some perfumy essence. Flavor is tart and dusty with some wood smoke and alcohol. Tasty and different.

Tasted 7/17/07. 750ml bottle. Hazy amber hue. Ring of off white head. Sweet and tart nose. Tart and musty. Full bodied. Big effervescence. Apparently it has the lovingly refered horse blanket taste and aroma. Tart and bitter palate. Good, but not great.

Amber pour big white head. Sour aroma with oak, cherries, and just a gueze like scent. Flavor is sour yeast, a lot of oak, some smoke even, but basically a big sourness with light notes of fruit and oak. This is funk at it’s finest and with the classic JP sourness.

bottle.....aroma: fruity, tart, and oaky in the nose. i couldn’t specifically pinpoint the fruit but hinted at some cherry and apple, a little spice and malt played a subservient role though....appearance: trasparent/clear amber brown with a humongous off-white head (had to wait awhile for the head to settle actually)....taste: a nice blend ot tart that mellowed out to just a hint of sweetness, oaky with a barnyard funk compoenent to it, somewhat grassy.

Almost no head at all, just hints of white over a hazed red brown to maroon body. Sweet tart fruit. Lively and sharp. Really opens up with some warming. Oaky and a bit tannic and still a vinous sweetness balances this beer. A little thin in the body, though still lively. very subdued carbonation. Big oaky cherry. solid but not dominant malt. Tangy and sour, but again, not dominant. A long dry lingering oaky finish. A bit of herbal complexity. This beer tasted differently as it warmed up, but it was always in balance, and always interesting. I love the things Jolly Pumpkin does!
