A foamy, off-white head displays excellent retention, while sudsy lacing mostly rejoins the body. The aroma starts off with dehydrated dark fruits, tart orchard fruit, and even some sour citrus notes. Caramel and cherries lend hints of sweetness. Saturated, soured out oak and funky brett permeates the nose throughout. Flavors show more of the same. Delicious, dried dark and light tree fruits working wonderfully with the subtle caramel, while the barrel infuses its woody, sour funk. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation, the mouthfeel transitions from cream up front to dry, funky, and utterly tart on the finish. This is a fantastic brew, and one of Jolly Pumpkin’s best, for sure. cmillward (440), Orlando, Florida, USA

A mild JP funk on the nose, some apples, tart, caramel, tinges of cherries, grape skins. Quite tart, wonderful caramel complementing the tartness, a mild oak woodiness with some nice drying tannins. A wonderful brew, very balanced with the sour, caramel and oak complementing each other exceptionally well. Extremely drinkable! TampaBrew (907), Tampa, Florida, USA

Dark amber pour with white head. Aroma of jolly pumpkin funk, apples, crackers, bread. A bit spicey and woody. Flavor is stunning. Sour and tart, fruity. Lots of notes of cherry, apple, and other fruits. Drank a whole 750 of this and still wanted more. The best beer of the night by far. craftycarl21 (601), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Cloudy brown pour with some orange tints, small cream colored head. Aroma holds tart fruit, wood, lots of spice, and some molasses and caramel malt. Flavor starts with definite tartness, then slowly shifts to heavy sweet malt and alcohol, with notes of bretty acidity still lingering near the finish. Palate is wondrous- seems to warm and slowly melt right into the tongue, and the acidity combines with the sweetness to linger beautifully. A really good brew. Fred82 (408), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Light sourness, high carbonation, dry, earhty, spicy and crisp. Nice oak flavor that amplifies the dry character. Really enjoyable as always. amg800 (35), Ada, Michigan, USA
